(or are we talking headstuds? that works too!)
The X's don't need them into the low 30's--perhaps further since I've never read a report of a head lifting. Seems like all of the VIII owners upgrade them.

I think a lot of the VIII guys prematurely replaced their headstuds b/c they came into the game with a DSMer's mentality (and background). It became much less frequent with the IX's as they began to prove how much they could take and people finally started to realize that replacing the headstuds prematurely was leading to more issues than it was preventing.

No one on the X has done super high HP on E85 aside from Gates.
Have you read the threads on Gump's build? He's E85...retarded power level, regardless of how dynos read.

X has COP, the 8/9's don't
This is correct. The 8/9 has what I guess you could call a half COP setup with 2 cylinders having coils and the other two having plug wires leading from the coil to the sparkplug. The two coils did seem to be lacking though, the Denso ones that people upgrade to (Spoolinup and SparkTech kits) are much stronger. that being said, I ran my stock plugs out to .027" gap on the stock coils/boots/wires with no misfires at 26psi on pump gas, I then switched to the Denso coils and ran Denso plugs out to .031" gap with again no issues or misfires.

but evoX is not so amazingly different/better than the evo8/9 or 1G/2G DSMs as most evoX owners depict.
This is very true and one of the major things that really irritates me when reading EvoXForums and the X section on EvoM. Different engine and layout yet, but overall the cars are all very similar and respond similarly to mods. A lot of knowledge learned from DSM's and 8/9's effectively carries over to the X.

I don't think so...pretty sure he is on Race fuel, c16 or vp or something.
He only has 1300cc injectors, don't think that would support 800whp. I could be wrong though.
Just checked he was on sunoco 117.

The technical term, as far as I've been led to believe at least, is a COP/slave system.

Are you saying that people don't believe you when you tell them stuff or just that they don't know what was previously done? If someone had bought an Evo X as their first Mitsu then they probably haven't spent a lot of time reading DSM forums. I'd be willing to bet that applies to half of the X owners on the forums.
You'll find more knowledgable people on the DSM, 8 & 9 forums because mechanically inclined people are more likely to buy one. Guys that are afraid of wrenches buy something new and with a warranty. Mitsu warranty ftw. lol.

Both :) This relates to suspension and brake setups too, they're very similar in design to the 8/9.

Have you seen what people are saying about the DW1300's? Very inconsistent, very noisy, kinda scurry:
