Did you retune for the new manifold at all or no?
Not yet no, I was going to Shane on the 15th.
I don't think it was the tune, I was logging the car pretty consistently and it looked fine. But you never know.

Terrible day...
I'm starting to think that I am very bad luck considering I watched your first engine blowout from 50 yards back, and now this...
hope DB helps you out.

I say let DB look it over before you touch anything, or even post it on the internet....oh too late hehe. Well SGH still has my engine hoist and he's not too far from you.
Simplest thing to do imho is to jack the car up, pull the oil pan (drain it first obviously) and see if you can wiggle any of the rods....there is a video somewhere that I took of Jim shaking his fast back and forth and you can obviously hear a problem.
zoinks! found it:

I am not trying to say anything bad about anyone. I am simply conveying the situation as of now.
My plan for this week is to talk to DB tomorrow and hopefully get the car towed to them early in the week. Then I'd like to be there for them to pull the oil pan and more importantly check the flywheel/clutch out.
My ONLY glimmer of hope is that flywheel bolts backed out. I am revving to 9k so I guess its possible. I have had a bunch of people on the national forums suggest this and even 2 or 3 that said they had this happen on their Evo X. And they said they didn't know it was the flywheel bolts until the dropped the tranny. One guy even said without a stethoscope he thought it was rod knock in the center of the motor as well, just like mine sounds. So basically I am praying to god that is it. Even swifty messaged me saying the same thing, so apparently that is a common thing, which gives me the slightest bit of hope, but with my luck I am not holding my breath.
I'll call DB in the morning and report back after they look at it.

I was on a S2k cruise once and it sounded like a guy destroyed his engine after a mis-shift; it was the flywheel bolts and the engine was fine.

Kind of a dammed if you do dammed if you don't troubleshooting method but rod knock will go away if you pull the injector plug for the cylinder with a spun bearing. Basically start the car, pull the coil or injector plug for each cylinder.
Also rod knock is most pronounced when you let off of 2000-3000 revs, unless the bearing is absolute toast and knocks all the time. It will be sound very rythmik.
Flywheel bolts are a possibility. Had it happen to me on my 2.4 builds and if you would have heard CornFed 2.4's talon (my old talon) this past summer when a flywheel bolt came loose, you would have swore it was motor. It was awful, ask Aaron.
If I can help. let me know.

Thanks Jim.
Hopefully in a week or so we will figure out what happened and we will go from there.
