As far as running a 4" intake to a 2.5" inlet, it's been done for years with no ill effects. Your lowest pressure point will be in the intake, generating vacuum from the outside air (thus the sucking sound) and then as long as there is a smooth transition from the 4" intake to the 2.5" (?) intake on the turbo, the compressor wheel will do everythign in its power to just suck in and swirl the air as much as it can. As the air approaches the blades though, it will probably be straight.

I had a FP 4" intake on a bastard20g turbo w/ a 2.5" inlet on it, they made a crazy coupler just for DSMs. It was like $35 but it fit perfect and was a pretty smooth transition.

I am guessing Robert was thinking about the 8/9 MAF setup and not the X.

Regardless, Shane knows what's up, I will get a 3.5" one and he can scale it. Bam done.

Will it physically fit? Yes. Could it still max out the maf sensor? Yes.




The physics are what I do best :D The maf sensor is calibrated to be installed in a 2.5" tube (or whatever size the interior diameter of the stock maf housing is), and the cross-sectional area of that tube. The bigger the tube, the more cross-sectional area, so it has to be re-calibrated to match said tube.

To much prattling about nothing? I suppose. Trying to learn and figure things out along the way. A bit of a learning curve with these fancy cars.

I just need someone to fab a new intake for me. From what I understand it's only an issue if I want more power. The car is sitting at 430 anyway, it's not like it's boring or anything. The fuel issue is the pressing one.

I just called Full Blown. They suggested that I get the Evo over there on Saturday and they'd look at it by Monday.

So Michael at ETS sent me an email...his comments seemed to point towards the 3" shouldn't be a problem since their Evo X t3 turbo kits have a 3" MAF housing.

Did Shane ever try swapping mine in to yours to see where the voltage is at? I guess that should be step one to make sure it really is getting maxed out.

I called ETS this morning but didn't catch the guy's name. Their T3 does use a 3" MAF housing but a 4" pipe behind it. Dude could not confirm what the 3" setup could do on the max side...just referred me to Iveytune. Ivey hasn't replied yet.

If Gates had to upgrade then I have to upgrade, I figure. My car should hit the power range that his car was at...

ETS does not tune cars.

Read the mod list and note the intake size and intercooler size. The dyno chart looks like shit, but you get the idea.
