Get collector plates, only the rear required and no renewals. Doesn't have the "get out of jail free" factor of veteran plates though. :D

That's actually not a bad idea. Car is 22 years old so I could do that. And no more yearly tab renewal since they never expire, hmmm...
I do worry about getting harassed by cops if they see me driving it around town and to work. Wonder if it would affect insurance at all too, would they lump it under some other "collecters car" category? Anyone on here with any experience? Maybe I'll start a new thread about it.

Maybe contact Curt, I'm pretty sure he has collector plates on at least one of his 3S's.

So you are using GPS to drive your speedo? I know the refresh is 10hz but in my experience the GPS speed is always a bit laggy, maybe a .5-1 second behind. Let us know how you like it.

I've had the collector plate on mine for a year now, and drive it every day to work, and all over town. Nobody gives a crap, there's no enforceable restrictions that I know of.
As far as insurance, it didn't make any difference, I just have liability on mine as a third car, it's always been cheap.

Yep GPS sensor. It's 10hz and I completely expect it to have a touch of lag. That's OK though, I'm just using it to make sure I'm somewhere near the speed limit. That's all I'm really using it for, just so I have a general idea of how fast I'm going, right now I have absolutely nothing.
If I'm flooring it I'm sure it'll be a little behind and a little off, but doesn't really matter to me, I'm not watching the speedo in that situation anyway.
I'm sure half the people on here's speedo's are off too with different size wheels. Not really a big deal.
Steve, yeah I hear ya. The only thing I'm worried about is it's just another reason for cops to look closer at you. I'm tired of being hassled for dumb shit. Even in that regular old Galant I got from you back in the day, I got pulled over twice for tint, while I had the cruise on going exactly the speed limit. Just don't need another reason for a Blaine cop to say "hey I've seen you driving this car around town a lot lately, you're violating the limited used restriciton".
Did you have to re-register your car as a collector? Or did you just go in and say "hey I want collectors plates" and that was it?

Hmmm, the only thing I've been hassled about in years is my exhaust was a little loud. I didn't have to do anything but pay the plate fee and that was it. You can even get custom collector plates if you want them, but I didn't care anymore.

Speed sensor appears to be working. I only took it uo to about 30mph but the speedo matched the cars gps. Little bit if lag as expected but perfectly fine for me.

I also have collector plates on my car. The rule says that as long as you have another car to drive and the car is 20 years old you can get collector plates. Insurance does not matter as long as you have insurance.
