Hmm. What symptoms prompted the compression test?
A consistent 20+ counts of knock at WOT since the cruise.

Shitty man, but 4b11 not quite up to dsm power yet another 200whp and i would of agreed. :sex2:

so where now?

Yank the head and take a closer look, try to figure out for sure what caused this. Then save up some cash and make it happy again. I guess this will be the unofficial start of round3 for the car.

Chances are I'll get a pretty vanilla, proven setup in there for years of continued fun.

Car just sounded like it was missing and generally running like crap, although anna said she couldn't really tell. It had almost a tick to it making me think it was something in the valvetrain; almost sounded like a 1g with bad lifter tick except there's no lifters in this engine, only tappets.

Heh not exactly. It knocked like a SOB on the cruise on that piss BP91 we got in superior. I feel insanely bad if anyone else is having problems as a result of this stuff. When I was logging my hybrid MBC/BCS setup (http://mitsustyle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28224) is when I really noticed things getting ugly. I had about 1/4 tank of that piss 91 in it and filled all the way up with local BP93 good stuff but it just continued to knock and the logs did show something crazy like 28 counts one time. I shut it down instantly but who knows if that was the nail in the coffin or what.

Oh, a few days later (after I had noticed it starting to run worse) just AFTER part throttle boost on decel (in gear) the car would let out a short but very noticable billow of blue/black smoke. That's when I knew for sure something was amiss.

Gimme a call if you want a hand or someone to sit around and talk shit.

I call built motor set for 600+ and you end up at the 500 mark.

Good luck man.

I'm glad you were able to get your hands on a boroscope to confirm what we saw on the compression test. Could have done without the scored cylinder wall...

In all fairness, I put the pedal down a handful of times on that 91 octane gas and my car never knocked. Power is a nice thing, but a safe tune is even better.

Dude that sucks! I was hoping it would be something easy when you had said your compression results.... What do you have planned? Need a beer?

That sucks Scheides! Hope you get it back on the road soon :(

On a note with that Superior BP gas, I was knocking like crazy after filling up there. Had to lower my boost to spring pressure on the wastegate just to floor it and was still getting some knock. Ran it close to empty and then filled up with some local 92 octane and was boosting great again at 22 psi.

I was telling him earlier to do a 4G swap. That's pretty vanilla and proven, right?
