Also you should be able to grab my AMS intake shield sometime soon, next few weeks so you can test it out and copy it if need be.

Nice! I'm in no rush. Car runs great with my silly exhaust manifold heat shield :D I def want to give it a try though!

mmmm gains!

ino right! Driving the car around a little more & not concentrating on fueling it definitely feels better everywhere. It's not nearly as dramatic as when I swapped in MAP's long-runner tubular manifold, but I can feel it down low and there is a little bit more yanking of the neck up top. The powerband on these 4b11's is so smooth it's hard to really say it feels faster.

Car rolled over 38000 miles as I pulled into the garage last night--this marks 10,000 miles on the motor since I got it running last fall. What an epic year it has been! The car is making fantastic power and I couldn't be happier with the drivability and day-to-day civility. The car runs perfect and last weekend Andrew complimented me on how clean the car runs under boost--no puffs of smoke, no drops of oil flying out, etc.

Today I decided to give it a health check. Engine was up to full temp but oil temps were probably not too hot as I only drove over to the dog park and back.

Compression test:
145 147 138 127
147 149 139 130 (retest)

This spring I had tested it out at 145-151-146-145 so I'm not sure what to think.

Next I yanked the valve cover off and check the clearances on all of the cam buckets. All are within spec except intake cam lobe #3 (cyl 2, intake valve #1) which is .012/.013, this hasn't changed since I checked it at 1000 miles. (http://mitsustyle.com/forums/showpost.php?p=370710&postcount=783)

Checked timing chain stretch, it's well within spec.

Spark plugs look ok, probably will replace them next spring.

Boost leak test and oil change are on my todo list, maybe next weekend. About time to order snow tires to I guess :P

God damn man. I am definitely envious of this car. I'll catch up eventually. ;)

I couldn't bring myself to spend $1200 on another set of Dunlop WinterSport 3D's...even though on the X the car surpassed any other AWD car I've driven in the snow. Lots of local guys have had great luck with the Hankook W300's and these are the next-generation: I'm going to try my hand at a new tire that I haven't heard much about: Hankook W310 i-cept evo.

I weighed them against the Dunlop Wintersport M3's and the w300's and had to play around with sizing to find different tires that would fit and not kill my wallet. In the end I got 235/40-18. Stock is 245/40-18.

$796 shipped from discounttiredirect.com, best deal I could find on 18" snow tires that fit on the stock X rims.

Skinnier tires are better in the snow anyway. That's cool.

Nice pick up! The Dunlops easily made my X the most enjoyable best snow handling vehicle I ever drove but yes they are stupid expensive.

I am sure these will work well too. Let us know how they compare!

Ok snow tires are still sitting at the ready...in the meantime I ordered the aluminum undertray from SSP in South Dakota...man this thing fits REALLY nice. My front bumper was flimsy and kickable, it is missing chunks out of it (see thread title!) and I just realized that I might be missing the lower wheel liner on the driver's side. In fact I'm sure of it, just never thought about it!

Install took about an hour, including jacking and lowering the car and *sniff* firing up the torpedo heater for the first time this season.

Every hole lined up perfectly. You can see the access panels for the oil drain and filter.

Lots of unused mounting points along the sides, probably hs something to do with the missing wheel liner piece I guess :P Still fits awesome. My bumper cover is much more sturdy, this will be VERY helpful once the snow flies :D

How much did that nice piece cost you?
