Nice, I bet 111 finds its way for the cruise. :KANE:

Haha nah. The car is plenty fun on 100% BP93, I'll have other stuff to worry about come cruise weekend (keep it between the ditches and shiny side up!). Plus at $6.99/gallon, my wallet will be empty in notime!

Might as well share the story of last night. I worked until about 1am and decided I should really do a boost leak test. Sure enough, injector #4 manifold side had a leak. Pulled the rail off and yup, I squished it upon install, fail scheides. These were brand new seals from DW.

Stole a seal off of a stock injector and luckily it fit. Got it put in and I tightened down the rail, fired the car up, gasoline everywhere. One of the injectors had caught on the flange and not seated properly (#3 IIRC). Loosen rail. Align carefully, decide I should just push down with my hand and leak test again. FML, I see the rail-side seal on #1 squish out. Fukin ripped it in half!

Stole another seal off of stockers, luckily they fit. Lube it and carefully seat everything. tighten, no leaks on either side, fire up the car, go for a mini spin. Woohoo! What a bish but good to go.

Get in the car this morning, car starts hard and smells like fuel, I write it off to what I spilled last night. Get a few miles down the road, pop the hood, fuel spraying out of #2 now. FML. Drive home, get the GLI, go to work. This is what I get for working too much I think, carelessness.

Will get it buttoned up for tomorrow, frustrated and tired and overworked.

You have one day to fix any issues before the 2 week cruise rule. :)

I still blame shane for all of this, I could have just left pump gas in it and left it leaky, ignorance is bliss, right? :P

Seriously though, yes, 2-week rule is in full effect! Button it up tonight for tomorrow and then just miles and smiles. I'll switch back to my pump gas tune via (tephra mapswitching) when my tank-o-111 runs dry.

So, apparently the stock ignition is teh ghey, it was not liking 29+psi on the 111 leaded, even with the stock plugs gapped down to .020. Boo. Still, looks like topping up before going to the track is an easy +30whp/+30wtq for me, so if I never get Aquamist or E85 I'll likely just do this.

Before: 414whp/~335wtq@27psi

After: 443whp/~360wtq@30psi, ignition breakup, +3° self tune. Tach signal failed so no torque, sorry.

I added 3° of timing across the board and 4° from 6500 up. Not sure if the car actually *hit* an extra 3° of timing with the elevated boost/load levels, but it was close. After the dyno I turned down teh boost to 28.5 peak and it lost the misfire and honestly felt faster. Sigh, wish I would have just done that on the dyno. Oh well.

BeaterX stays true to its name!

Compression test the other night: 70 135 140 145
booo!
I put a cap of oil into cyl #1 and it brought compression up to 140. Gah, sounds like bottom-end problems :(

I borrowed Ron @ RS' boroscope today (thanks agian Ron!) and it confirmed, 4b11's are DSM's too! LOL. The pics are fuzzy but I'll have better ones whenever I get the head off. Not sure on schedule or parts spec yet, but rebuild is def in order.

Vertical scoring :(

Something ucky going on with part of the piston/ring land:

I'll post real pics once the head comes off and the parts start coming in.
ps--for those keeping track: yes I uber-broke two evos in one year. Yeow.

Oh well, we'll have to test it out on another car.

Hmm. What symptoms prompted the compression test?
