I will have my rods and new set of pistons late next week. I have ordered stuff from parts dinosaur and am talking with MAP and Dukes for the rest of the parts.

Some good changes this year is new timing belt stuff, I am building a new head with 1mm over valves new springs and crazy light titanium retainers plus shims to tighten up the springs as much as possible.

The block with just get the glaze broken and new rings/bearings installed.

I am going to try a ICS Titan copper head gasket: http://www.maperformance.com/sce-ics-titan-head-gasket.html

And new MAP ultimate duty L19 studs.

Also I am getting a set of Hoosier QTP tires: http://m.summitracing.com/parts/HOO-17415

I will make a few minor changes to the entire setup. The goal is a little less rattles, fix some drivability, and get the car aligned, and have the ems control boost and have VSS input with an electronic speed sensor from a 2g.

I will post pics and updates as needed.

Why the copper HG vs a permatorque? Were you running a permatorque before and just want to try something different?

Car looks good and fun as hell!

I have had 2 permafails in my car. The one that was in it for the first part of the season started to leak between the layers on the dyno, but it only pushed coolant at 42+psi so I left it alone as long as I could then after the record run at BIR it started to leak at 40psi. So I installed a new gasket and drove to the map dyno day and made 830 at 40psi and was already leaking after 14 miles.

And I want to turn the boost up this year so I need a gasket that should never leak.

The main issue is the permaleak has no ring or anything between the layers to seal cylinder pressure.

I like the older cometec better, but that's just me.

And when this 4202 lets the ghost out at 50+psi I will get a Borg Warner 4202 or the BW billet 80mm to replace it.

I noticed that about the permatorque when putting it in Vassils car, but everyone and their brother likes them, havent heard many complain but definitely understand. I am curious about how this copper head gasket holds up.

Did you have L19's or A1's before with the permatorque before?

The block was decked in a Sunnen v30, the head was decked, the block was honed with a torque plate and the A-1 technology L19 head studs torqued to 105ft/lbs with a ton of moly lube.

I copper sprayed the permatorque and there were no signs of block to gasket or head to gasket leaks, it was all between the layers.

Wow, that sucks! Hopefully that copper gasket holds up a little better. They have been around forever but I have heard more horror stories vs good, therefor I was surprised you are going that route but makes sense now. Although most of the issues I've heard seemed more like user error... Good luck and hope it works!

I still use permatorque on my 1G, knock on wood, no issues. Same A1 studs at 105 ft/lbs. I have been putting a fresh gasket in every time the head comes off. However I would take the titan route if it started leaking. I'm curious to see how it goes with the titan.
