No, the 3065 has the gt30 turbine wheel, not the 35r wheel. The DSM82 would be a good upgrade, hta wheel and more top end. Or be crazy and get the DSM86 (assuming you're sticking to a mitsu format turbo).
Based on your sale price of $680 plus the $600 fix/upgrade price, it would cost you another $400 to get a brand new hta 35r turbo. You'd be able to keep all your current setup too.
Good luck on the new setup, whatever you choose to go with. I'm always amazed how much power this car makes.
yup, this is kinda what I was suggesting. The hta3586 would be a bigger turbine wheel, and a way better compressor wheel, and you get to keep your cast manifold and such, no crazy changes, nice and reliable. Otherwise you're moving to a tubular manifold, new downpipe, new dump, blah blah blah. If you got an insane deal on a nice quality tubular manifold and the downpipe, I'd say go that route, otherwise I have a hard time believing it won't be a much more expensive setup.

scheides will be so proud of me. I decided to go the upgrade route and will be shipping my turbo off to FP tomorrow. They said turn around time is usually only a couple days so I'm hoping I can get back to the track and make a couple passes at full power with the nitrous.
Thanks again for all the input guys, it helps to see the options all in one spot and the pros and cons I didn't think of.

sweet dude, i think you made a smart decision. some people get the crazy giant upgrade itch and end up spending a TON of money for a setup that performs marginal at best.
I think your combo has treated you insanely well and i'm excited to see how far you take it :)

If you didn't drive your car on the street and had a built motor that could rev really high I would say go bigger, but considering you like to "drive" your car I think you made the right choice.
If 600whp doesn't make you happy on the street then your should go fucking work for NASA or something. :)

Nice, so you got a HTA 3065? What does the HTA wheel flow, 72 lb/min instead of 65? I can never remember. Anyway, should spool a bit better plus more HP, never a bad deal, and cheaper than a new turbo.

That was without any nitrous^

Then took it down to cedar falls only to blow apart my intercooler again. Only got 2 runs in before it blew and spun really bad at the top of 2nd when the nitrous hit, but this is the best one. Kinda bummed but was still a pretty fun trip.

Maybe I'll cage the pile this winter so I can run somewhere other than Cedar or maybe build a motor, if only I could make up my mind. haha

Awesome! I see an HTA wheel in there, what are the specifics on the new snail?
No cage! Keep it a street car! I had a feeling in the back of my mind you had something up your sleeve yet this year :D
