Thank you MN appliance rebate! We have been ready to buy for a few months now, but when we heard about that deal we decided to wait. We ended up saving a bit more so we could get some nicer front-loading units, and I built some pedestals to go with them!

1984 vintage. Respek.

2x6's cut up and made a basic table leg setup

29" x 29" x 3/4" plywood (I wanted 1" but home depot didn't seem to have any....meh

wrap all sides in plywood for stability (screws and glue everywhere here)

Then make another one to match! I had all of the wood cut @ home depot for about $5 (first 6 cuts are free, $0.25/cut after). I wasn't too concerned about everything being 'just perfect' and these cost $80 all said and done. The ones in the store are $230 EACH and they're only about 13-15" high. These are about 18.5" high, just right.

A little painting help from the wife...she decided she wanted to go crazy with some silver metallic paint. I wanted just plain black, but caved.

Leveled and situated, delivery dudes hauled the old junk away for free (poor poor bastards; my back stairwell is a nightmare!). Got the new ones hucked up on the pedestals, gas, water, and exhaust lines all hooked up!

Time to do some laundry! :P

edit: yes I know the dryer vent is effed up, I gotta get some different pieces to bring it up to code.

Ya this room will be getting more attention in the next few months, its been a non-priority, but we'll have to move some stuff around, maybe put in a folding table and some cabinets and such, and yea, paint :P My house is 97 years old so those walls and the floor are gonna need a little TLC.

I might end up ripping out that basin at some point too, but after bench pressing the one at my buddy's house idk if I even wanna eff with it. Heavy. As. Fuck.

We started our next house project last on Monday last week (9/6/10). We are redoing the basement. Its a big project but needed to be done, and we are going all out. I don't have an old picture at work but will get one up later.

We Took down all the wood paneling, carpet and old ceiling tile (even found a couple gross mouse skeletons up there!!) Also found out there was no insulation in the basement!

This is what it looked like after demoing: excuse my high quality cell phone pics!

Then we painted all the walls with water proofing paint. And installed Foil Face foam board insulation on the outside walls:

Then last night MattD and Scheides came over and Scheides rocked out a bunch of wiring and installing some recessed lights for us (thanks again!!!). Matt and I put up most of the walls (until the cement drill bit died :( ). It was awesome having them help goes much faster with a more help!

Tonight we are gonna knock out some more wiring and finish up the walls. The surround sound wiring and wall plates come tomorrow so I can start getting that set up on tues night. I'll update with more progress as we go!

Woot for a good project! Replacing SOOOO much old crappy wiring, some of the stuff was just downright dangerous! All the wiring is nice and should last for years to come (tens or twenties of them actually :D), all to code and the lighting truely transformed the room. I know its stupid, but I really love recessed lighting!

If it is to code, why are there still wires hanging below the trusses? :) You did put everything in that room on ARC Fault protected circuits right?

Nice work. Also, you need to pound metal plates over the studs where the wiring goes through (there are plates made for it). For the walls, I would have probably just used poly for a vapor barrier and used standard R13. The stuff you used is primarily used for exteriors under the siding.
