Picked up a 43 inch Sharp Roku TV open box (dusplay right off the wall lol) from Best Buy for 155 bucks. Had to test it out with some tuna no crust :D. Fits perfect!

Are you doing face frames on the cabinets? Could always make a little face frame even if you aren't doing frames for the rest of the cabinets and make some smaller doors to hide stuff above the receiver. That'd probably look really clean or put a shelf above it and put something cool up there

Yeah I'm going to put doors on everything. I'm working on those currently. Just picked up a bunch of 3/4" MDF from home depot and a router.
I have thought of doing something for those ones. Like a face over the one with a sub that's maybe just a frame with cloth stretched over it so the sound can travel. Then something to cover up the stereo too. I don't have any great ideas for that yet so I'm just going to save all of that for last :)

also I have my work top started as well. Just need to attach it and router the edges. It's two layers of 1/2" MDF.

I’m loving the idea of mdf for a work top. Just screw in and not glue, and when it’s all beat to crap just sand & flip over for a brand new surface! Double thick means you have four potential resurfaces for free.

Andrew I don't think it'll work quite like that. I'll be routering the top exposed edge. It'd probably look odd if I routered that edge on all 4 faces. Also I plan to screw it down (I'll put screws up from the bottom). So if I were to flip this thing over, the new top surface would be full of holes.

However this top was made from a 4x8 sheet of 1/2" MDF. Sheet was literally just cut in half the long way (so two 2x8 sheets), then just cut down to about 85" long. So in the future if the top ever gets really bad, I can literally just run to home depot, spend $20 on a new sheet (and they can cut it in house on their saw), bring it home and screw it back down and be back in business.

Nice. Yea would look a bit weird with the front face having a routed edge in the middle. For mine I was thinking of doing inset screws from the top, so it wouldn't be completely flush but close enough for me, and I just plan on single sheet.

Updated pics. I have all of the cabinet doors cut (except the large doors) and routered. Totally digging this battery powered ryobi handheld router!! I put a coat of primer on them as well. This isnt the exact color they will be painted but in general is sort of close. So this is a preview of how the final coloring will look. Dark grey casings with light grey doors. I ordered hinges off ebay, should be here in a few days.

Also got the work top finished. I used two layers of 1/2". I didnt glue them just screwed. I now wish i would have either glued or maybe just used 3/4 thick stuff. No biggie i can always switch it up later if i want. For now just leaving it and moving forward.

Not a huge project but I finally put a nice looking top on my work bench. I bought a shop smith a few years ago and I didn’t like how much space it wasted in my already cramped garage. I couldn’t find a 13’ counter so I got two from the ReStore that looked fairly similar. The left one was originally a 3x8’ island counter so it had the edging on both sides. After I cut it to the correct depth I used the leftover piece as a new shelf above the tool box and tool rail/hooks. Excuse the mess in the corner, just piled a ton of stuff there since I had to clear out much of the work bench to screw the counter in from the bottom.

The counter over the shop smith is supported with a 2x4 screwed to the wall, and holds decent weight before flexing. Not going to be a surface to pound on, but plenty strong to hold a bunch of stuff. The shop smith rolls out and fits under the front lip of the counter.
