do the water jets spray the IC to drop the temperature of it? sorry, noob question!

Yes, water evaporating helps to dissipate the heat. The charged air can only be cooled to atmospheric temp so the water sprayers are only useful if the intercooler is unable to fully cool the charge by itself.

ah ok, next noob question.

why would an IC not be able to cool the air enough (down to the temperature of the air outside)? would the IC not be big enough - not letting the air spend enough time inside it to cool down?

High boost and multiple runs gets everything pretty hot and water would help then. A bigger intercooler would help too but I think you're pretty limited on space right Mark?

With my big intercooler it still gets hot to the touch on the hot side and a few inches in on the core after only a few 40-70 second autocross runs. I can only imagine what it would be like if the core was smaller. I haven't yet felt the need to spray it after a run because the IC piping and intake manifold are still able to be touched.

also went to the junk yard today and they had a 5g mirage so I snaged the arm rest out of it. No more crappy plastic one for the car anymore. To top it all off it was dirty as hell and was 2.00 because of that, nothing a carpet cleaner could not fix
