I cut the tip of a sock off and put it over my knob when I park my S2000 somewhere in the sun on a hot day and it works perfectly. Take sock off and drive away without burning my hand In the cold, just leave the sock on for the first few miles (or wear gloves).

That's a pretty good idea. I would do that if I had a metal one.
