Ok so I'm having issues with the evo3 conversion/welded diff transmission. Mainly due to driving with a dragging clutch for the past 10 months. So I picked up a backup trans, a new 2600 pressure plate, new release fork/pivot ball, new oem TOB, and a new 6 puck sprung disc. Also picked up a fidanza flywheel and put a new friction surface on it.
I'm going to swap in the new clutch and backup trans then repair/upgrade my current transmission.

OK I was putting off changing out the clutch and transmission. Ive been daily driving with the 2nd gear pop-out and grinding 3rd gear. I drove to ham lake to drop off a Saturn cylinder head (other project in my garage), when I was arriving to my destination, the trans got stuck in 4th gear. Any other gear but 4th it would stall immediately.
Since at my house waiting for me was a fidanza flywheel, new pressure plate, new disc, new tob, new release fork, AND a back up trans/tcase, I said screw it and took off in 4th gear for the 40 mile trip back home at 3:30 in the afternoon, just as traffic was picking up in 4th gear only.
Last night after work I pulled the trans. This morning I changed the clutch and reinstalled the trans. With the lightweight flywheel, six puck disc, and without a welded diff/EvoIII parts it is definitely different to drive. Still got to break it in though. Now I'll have to start setting aside money to fix my main transmission.

Yeah major clutch slippage required to take off in 4th gear, here are some pics of the flywheel, 2600 PP, ACT street disc after 1 year and only about 16k miles, and many launches, no lift to shifts etc.

I also put on some new rubber, I went with the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS. 225/45/17. Although I will most likely be putting on some Bridgestone Blizzaks come snow time, I wanted to stick with an all season tire for daily driving. Huge improvement from the Falken ZE912s that I had before.
