9/7/14:
So feeling inspired (I still am btw for looks and speed) sunday after work (why I missed the eliminations) I decided to take the buffer to the car.
Sadly with a white car this is very hard to illustrate, especially since the pics were taken inside and not outside.

Pre-wax pic, tired of having such a crappy looking car. This is just after a normal wash.

Close up of the tree sap I was hoping to remove. I forgot to get an after pic, but the clay bar didn't do much anyway. This stuff is all over the passenger side of the car on the hood, fender, and door.

Another pre pic, kinda useless since I didn't get many post pics but it helps to show how dull the paint job is.

Another pre-wax pic, sadly it needs some buffer work for it to shine. But look at how non-shiny the paint is and this is after a wash.

Trying out the clay bar on her, well destroying a clay bar.

To be honest it didn't appear to make difference, it did feel better though.

Not 100% what is going on here IIRC, the left side is post buffer.
https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/s720x720/10653612_10154598159425323_4304553690259479041_n.j pg?oh=c142fb02a204cbc1118af75f744470a2&oe=549840E8

I only buffed the front fenders, hood and roof before we went out, but the car has not shined like this before, maybe ever in her life. (See other pics for matte white finish)
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/s720x720/10703617_10154598159885323_5112566060823498779_n.j pg?oh=a418ae6bf6fd92d8af6608a93421491c&oe=5489549E&__gda__=1422837640_1a3b893ffeb32da0f5e322da8c987de e

So white is extremely difficult to buff/wax, but what I was going for here was a comparison of the buffer with cutting compound, the front half (left side of pic) of the fender is before and the back (right side of pic) is after. if you look at the edge of the wheelwell you can see it.
https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/s720x720/10417567_10154598160035323_6314100123311793560_n.j pg?oh=14f46ebab577ca76f71396439c15074c&oe=5498E1B8

Bam, finally a pic to show the difference. Left is after, right side is before.
I only used a heavy cut (Meguiars 201) then I ran out of time.

From the front this time, look how much better it is. Next year she won't be looking so rough.

For the tree sap, try putting Iso heat on a cotton ball. Let it sit on the tree sap for a min or two and try to get it off the paint with the cotton ball. That has worked well for me in the past. It looks good though!

Yea you will need to use bug and tar remover for all those black specks. I just did that on my car before I waxed over the weekend. Then youll clay bar, to remove any other remnants. The big stuff wont come off in the clay. Looks good tho!

This isn't some random tar shit, this has been on the paint for at least 7 years every year in over 100* heat down in OK.
I tried some rain-x bug and tar, didn't seem to do much do you have a brand or recommendation for some?

That sounds serious!!
I'll give it a whirl though, I have a good friend that wants to try his hand at the car too.

Thanks, I agree it makes me dig the stock color. If only mitsu would of used a better clear over the paint.:hide:

I've had the best luck with using paint thinner or brake cleaner on tree sap. It still takes some elbow grease though.

Yea its road grime and bugs that have been baked on. It will take a lot of scrubbing with either what others said or tar remover. Paint thinner would work probably a bit better actually if its really stuck on there. Just keep scrubbin but dont put too much pressure.

Neat, an enema inducer? Or is that a nitrous evaporator? ;)

Had a feeling you would want to put it in your ass. (twss)
It's a NHRA legal blow down tube kit for nitrous so then I can be legal at the track.
