DD opinions...
So, I am less then happy with my 97 civic....not because it is a bad car, but eeeh... I can't put my finger on it.
I have always had a sweet spot in my heart for small RWD cars (S2000, MG, Miata)
There always seems to be sub $3000 Miatas on craigslist.
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/cto/1027884303.html
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/cto/1009117811.html
I just want to know if anyone has any opinions on said issue.
obviously I would 4g63 it, but for now it will be my DD bitch, I drive 70-80 miles daily and my DSM is not a good DD(I cannot drive the car nicely, i am tempted to go WOT, I get like 18mpg with the fucker).
I know there is a higher risk of injury/death in this smaller car, but I am an adult with no accidents so far.
Any thoughts?

Re: DD opinions...
I wouldn't want to be cramped up in a Miata for that long each day. The S2k was a very comfortable car though.

Re: DD opinions...
Get it. They are fun, reliable, cheap and good on gas.
Do you plan on winter driving it? That could get sketchy.

Re: DD opinions...
The noise and general uncomfortableness gets annoying on any trip over about 20 minutes. Great city mileage if that's a good portion of your driving. Highway is 30 or less depending on your speed.
Want to buy my 528i? Soooo much more comfortable...

Re: DD opinions...
The Miata is a fun weekend car, not a DD. And if you're going to 4G63 it, what would be the difference from your DSM? Except for non-stop drifting.

Re: DD opinions...
Yeah, miata's are alright, but long trips are not great in them. Get them on a twisty road and they are a blast, especially a turbo one. You could always do a 240sx for a DD.

Re: DD opinions...
The only time I've ever driven a Miata was at an AutoX. It was a blast. Maybe with a hard top it would be a better DD?

Re: DD opinions...
Miatas are awesome I wish they were that price when I was looking for a car.
I love everything about them esp. the fact god's motor can go in one too.
But my bro has an 03 and I can say for a DD, a little noisy for a decent trip and every corner i wanted to push it round.

Re: DD opinions...
I don't think I would want to DD a Miata or an S2000, but I am a fat ass. An S2000 would be a fun summer car. I am short though and even I wish the seat could go back farther.

Re: DD opinions...
I personally wouldn't want to be that cramped in my DD. But then again, I don't even want to have to shift my DD so my ideals may be different then most here. I guess what I'm getting at is everyone's opinion will differ, you just gotta decide what best suits you.
Before I bought my Saab, I was considering an RSX for my DD as they are smaller, but retain enough room to be comfortable. I personally wouldn't enjoy having a DD any smaller then that.

Re: DD opinions...
try a 95+ nissan 240sx? i have never driven a rwd car but driving the Tundra around in winter is quite easy, even in rough snow. the truck was only rwd to. I'm not sure about what the stock 240sx gets on the mpg's, but im sure it's better than our cars

Re: DD opinions...
Thanks for the opinions guys, if I got a 240 naturally I would have to put an SR20 in it....or go all the way with a complete R34 GTR conversion.
And that would be the end of my savings account.
On the other hand, a RWD 4G63 only takes a Dodge D50 transmission ~$150
I am also a big fatass, but I prefer being in a tight car.

Re: DD opinions...
The problem with DD is that you really shouldn't touch them performance wise in my opinion.
At least in my experience, everything becomes a little more unreliable when I touch it.
Either that or have a backup car for when it does break.
Remember you only have two options to pick from, Performance, Cheap, Reliable
I am using a truck for a DD and I like driving around in it EXEPT for the 15mpg
I am looking for something that I can take on long trips and hoping it gets above 20mpg
Maybe an older BMW...
However a hatch of some sort wouldn't be bad but not a VW
a Mirage wouldn't be too bad either
What would be good to take on long trips?

Evo. Best DD I've ever ever ever had. Keep it very mildly modded and in good running shape and it'll be nice back for a long long time.

Re: DD opinions...
Evos are still relatively new and probably out of his budget comparing it to what he was looking at. Who knows if Evos will be any more reliable than dsms when they are over 10 years old.
