Re: EVO no longer being imported to the US??
Isn't Mivec just the head? I thought the Evo IX was a 4G63 block with the Mivec? How crazy can they really get with an inline 4?
As long as there are a couple of Evo 8 MR's left at a reasonable price that's all that matters to me. I'll let other people be the test monkeys for Mivec and whatever the hell else Mitsu wants to try.

Re: EVO no longer being imported to the US??
You are correct about MIVEC and the IX having it. MIVEC doesn't mean a whole new engine, just like when Honda says and engine has VTEC. The block can be the same, only the head differs. I see nothing against MIVEC yet, supposedly its able to create a lot larger torque band. Has anyone run into problems with it once they are pushing more power? I have not heard if the X will continue using the 4G63 or not though, I can't see why they would take the time and effort to design a new 2L block when the 4G63 has been tried and trued for many many many years now...it dates back to at least the early 80's, why stop now?

Re: EVO no longer being imported to the US??
true, but have you guys seen the evo 9s? it seems like the only difference is the front bumper and the MIVEC head. There's some in Kline Mitsubishi in Maplewood. Caught my eye, went to go look at it but didnt get a test drive (damn!) oh well, still an Evo.

Re: EVO no longer being imported to the US??
The statement about the EVO not being imported anylonger came from Kline. Be interested in what they would have to say to someone face to face. Might take along lunch.

Re: EVO no longer being imported to the US??
They should do a more VTECish based version of MIVEC. The variable valve timing stuff that companies like Mitsu and Toyota use is ok, but it doesn't make the kind of power that the alternate cam lobe Honda VTEC stuff does. And now with the K-series Honda motors, they use both the variable valve/cam timing and the alternate lobes.
Hopefully Mitsu isn't going to goto throttle-by-wire also, so that there isn't any standalones available for the car and I wouldn't want a Mitsu implementation of a shitty less responsive torque controlling throttle-by-wire system to deal with.

Re: EVO no longer being imported to the US??
*Admitted wrong on page 3 about the mounting of the engine*
*Still accountable for*Reading reviews in several magazines they say that the Evo 9 might be the last Eevo again ever because Ralliart and the other company involved with making the Evo's wanted to make a newer, lighter, 2 door model.

according to alot of car mags. The mivec has better seemless power. They said it still has a good amount of torque, where as the honda's vtec and yota's vvti lack a bit in the low end department.

My bad i meant Evo 8.
Also this MIVEC stuff doesnt cause that much of a difference stock. But for further tuning i guarantee its better then this V-tech mumbo jumbo. And if not.. Then ill wait for the pics that say "mivec's kickin in yo!"

Link if pic doesnt work http://www.ownedforums.com/pics/albu...thumb_vtec.jpg

jakey was right, you really don't put any thought or effort into anything you have to say. explain how a simple mechanism that advances and retards cam timing is superior to a system that does the same AND has a whole separate, more aggressive cam profile that it can switch over to.
and the evoIX engine is mounted backwards from the 8? pics of proof or stfu.

Wow, you need to chill out. Proof of pics? This whole thread is based on information that someone's read somewhere. No one here is involved with the development of the Evo 9 or any other of th Evos. At this point, MOST of everything in here is SPECULATION.
edit: had to use bold function since some can't read correctly. Before your picture all it was is talk.
