Whatever you do, don't look into a Mazdaspeed6. I have nothing bad to say about my girlfriend's 09 Legacy other than it's not a GT model. Nice and comfy and get's decent MPG.

Clutch job is a pain in the ass. Gotta take out the engine cradle underneath which means you have to take out the steering rack, lower control arms, etc. A lot of work just for a clutch job. The transfer case sucks balls too since there is a hidden bolt in the back. And you have to buy a new flywheel since they cannot be resurfaced.

Re: DD shopping. $15k,GO!

I've owned a speed 6 and loved it. I bought mine in favor of getting an EVO in '07. Comfy, peppy, and a great year round car to drive. They had some issues that were covered under warrenty and if you find ones that had all the TSB shit taken care of they are a good car to consider in that range.

So, it's just like an Evo.

So its just like an Acura TL or most of the other cars he is looking at...

Just because a clutch job sucks isn't really a good reason to not buy a car. lol

That's like saying, don't buy a BMW cause to pull the motor it's a pain in the ass!

Not really, Speed6 only has 3 mounts and doesn't have a subframe with a crossmember like an Evo. And from looking at the DIY clutch job on an Evo, you don't even touch the steering rack or exhaust.

Don't buy anything newer than 1970, I hear they use larger wiper blades that cost an extra $2 at Walmart

Realistically, for a DD, you'll maybe, maybe, do a clutch job once during it's life.

Re: DD shopping. $15k,GO!

And even then, if you had a shop do it, it would be a few hundred dollars... I know a clutch job on my A4 at Imola is only 500 bucks, I wouldnt even bother doing it myself for that cost.

I usually do all my own work. You do remember I had a 1g, rebuilt the entire thing basically including the engine and tranny.

Re: DD shopping. $15k,GO!

The total cost of a Mazdaspeed 6 clutch job came out to around $1300.00 and that's without the flywheel.
