Re: DSM for DD?

So what is the benefit of using 2g piston ? I know that they will give you a higher compression

And mabey 550 injectors and that is about it for mods. O the car is a tsi awd. But my driving habits are not good you could say
What I drive is a 95 mazda protege 5 speed with a 1.5t and that t doesn't stand for turbo lol and it see 5 to 6 k every day and has 262000 on it. So yea I have a led foot. But that could be it is a slow car and probley go away with a car with power lol.
Well I plan on putting in new piston and rings in the dsm do to a valve is in one piston. So does any one know of any pistons that are reasonable priced for the quality. I was looking on e bay but don't trust it lol. But has any one use NPR pistons. Are they any good?
Notes:
-OEM MHI E3 16g or nothing
-If you do 550's you have to do something to tune it; s-afc, dsmlink, or just do the 550/2g mas combo, its worked for thousands of other 1Gs.
-you will be surprised how when you will beat on an underpowered car and take it a bit more easy on a higher-powered car. 1/3 throttle in the dsm is like WOT in your protege so you can get plenty of smiles w/o abusing the car too much (I need to listen to myself on this one)
-its a tish odd that you're talking about keeping it pretty stock but yet we're talking about engine parts? 100% stock block ftw imho, but its getting harder and harder to find an unmolested 6-bolt without 150k miles on it (not that thats aweful, but you know what I mean).

+2, I wasted hundreds and hundreds of dollars on that thing, should have just done a 2G MAS and put the money towards dsmlink or cams (or both).

Make sure you listen very carefully to shane...he usually says things like 'should' or 'could be' instead of 'will' or 'absolutely'. Not that he is decieptful, its just that in the car world things can go very wrong, even with a good combo of parts (or you make bad decisions on that good combo).

Yup that's it, but you have to get them machined to fit on 6-bolt rods. Still, it is a proven combo and if you can get a setup for the right price go with it. Otherwise Weisco HD or JE pistons seem to work very well for a reliable DD.

Re: DSM for DD?

I've been daily driving my 91 Talon now for about 6 months. Wouldn't have it any other way. Just keep it simple with the mods, and think about mods that upgrade the over-all driveability of it instead of just power. I beat the shit out of mine daily boosting all the time, bouncing off the rev limiter. It still starts every time, and gets me to where I'm going with a lot of fun.

I have a 14b, evo 9 injectors and fuel pump, fmic, and 3in. GM maf translator running @ 20 psi.
