Re: Evo X upgrades

The stock BOV on the X is known to leak at 25psi. A lot of guys crush theirs because the aftermarket BOVs have been a real crap-shoot...the vast majority being worse than stock when it comes to drive-ability.

I decided to pick up a Coto sports BOV-MO4. It is a stock BOV with a stronger spring. A guy that has one says it holds to at least 30psi and behaves like stock.

The obvious downside: JDM pricing yo!

Re: Evo X upgrades

Is the X BOV the same as the IX? WORKS and Tomei both sell a IX BOV with a stiffer spring.

Re: Evo X upgrades

yes its the same as the 9, i had shane crush mine and on the boost leak test it was holding 26psi no prob and we didn't hear any leaks.

Lomker, crushing stock bov ftw, lol. But nice pickup. How much if you don't mind me asking?

I am thinking of doing the synapse one if i do upgrade.

No shit? The amount of stuff I've learned after it was too late is epic. I'll have to buy another X just to use what I've learned to some advantage. lol.

Kracka is right but you gotta pay extra for the middle-man to buy your stuff and then the shipping charges from Japan. $315 from Japanparts.com.

Re: Evo X upgrades

GST motorsports has shown some gains by going to the synapse bov on a few cars even over the stock crushed one, usually in the midrange over the stock crushed one, but they said they have had good luck with that one.

Re: Evo X upgrades

Dude, send it back and either crush yours or buy the Tomei or WORKS if you insist on having a stronger spring! $315 for a basically stock BOV is just insane.

Naw, these outfits don't accept returns. It's basically some dude in Tokyo that buys what you want, marks it up, and then ships it out. Not a bad little business, really.

The Tomei is half the price but I've never heard of anyone using one on a X. If I had heard of it then I would have gone that way. I simply don't know enough to be improvising.

LOL, touche! Just think of the possibilities.

Lomker don't sweat it, we are still on the front of the evo 10 modding scene, we are bound to make mistakes and do things that are unnecessary.

The 8/9 guys had the luxury of having a motor that had been around forever so they had an idea of how to make the most of it.

Perhaps you missed the same answer? I spend every waking moment on the Evo forums and I have *never* heard of anyone using a IX BOV on a X before. I've never seen a IX BOV on a commercial website being advertised as working on a X.

I'll let somebody else pay Shane by the hour to figure out if something is gonna work. Have you seen his rates?

Like I said, I don't think a mistake that either of us make is from lack of research. You can't research what doesn't exist. However I did know the 9 and 10 bov was the same, but I saw the thread from lsv66 whatever showing the awesome results from the one you got. I don't blame you for getting that one, looks promising. And now you have your stock one in case anything happens to that. You could sell the x bov too and make back some dough.

Scheides and Kracka are nice guys but ultimately they are just two more people on the Internet and I weigh what they say as much as I do input from anybody else.

I have seen his rates. As a matter of fact I have spent over 10k dollars there in the last 3 years

You won't find every answer on a forum either, I ask Shane and other people all kinds of stuff whenever I get the chance.
