It works just fine. I did the same thing at Best Buy four years ago when I bought my first HDTV. Paid $2200 on Wednesday, brought the receipt in Friday afternoon and got $700 back. Lots of people do it and they know it, the kid at the counter smirked when I came up with the ticket.
