then I told him, don't stop at 20psi. 23 or 24 isn't unreasonable.

Ya, but that's based on your DSM experience. How much boost you can run on pump is directly related to how efficient the rest of the setup is. Maybe the quest head will limit this, maybe not. I just think if guys run 25psi with these on dsms and evos, a quest should be able to do at least 19 or 20.
One step at a time though, glad its running, now keep it that way! And get some freaking tie-downs on those injector clips! LOL @ subaru comment! My car is running like ass, sounds JUST like a scooby...bwahahaha I luv it.

Re: Turning my quest into a dsm.
The emergency fix on the dyno was zipties for the easy-to-access injectors and a piece of heater hose ziptied to another heater hose wedged over the clip on the #4 injector.

Car looked good yesterday man. I need to get a ride in it one of these days. +1 for more boost! Maybe even a little E85 for good measure

The torque on that thing is crazy! I'd definitely not hesitate to throw a few more PSi at that thing.

8:1
New injector plugs/clips are on. There is a little hesitation right when you tip into the throttle like when you're taking off, and kindof a miss or something if you dip too quick while driving. Not big problems though. It pulls cleanly.

Re: Turning my quest into a dsm.
Don't get too carried away with the boost. It's hard enough to run 20+psi of boost on pump gas with DSMs at 8.5:1 or 7.8:1, and often when you can, you have to pull out so much timing that it makes the same power it did at less boost. A DSM is not an Evo and a Starquest is not a DSM. Evos heads, pistons, combustion chambers were designed to handle 19psi stock on pump gas, DSMs only needed to handle around 12psi.

The accel fuel probably needs more work. We could play around with it on the street some night. It's usually hard to get all the accel fueling transitions perfect on the dyno, especially with AEM EMS Mustangs and Vipers.

Re: Turning my quest into a dsm.
No rush, I like it very much as is. The injectors are only 750's so I don't know if I could even get the same power I have now on e85. They were at 53% duty cycle, so if 30% DC translates to 30% more fuel, I suppose I could get about the same numbers with corn. So, it's a big meh right now.
I can smoke m3's now so that's pretty good! Plus Aaron said he thought it felt like a 16g car, haha. I guess it does spool up pretty quick.

Project: license plate relocation.
Oh yeah, much better like this. I used a spare license plate I had sitting around to make the bracket. Pretty much everyone has seen the old location, so I won't post a picture, but it had been like that for years after getting a no front plate ticket in porky's. I wish I didn't have to have one, but at least this time I didn't drill any stupid holes in the car.

Re: Turning my quest into a dsm.
sweet sleeper man! I could only get away with 17psi on 92 on shanes dyno with my dsm, so dont feel too bad.

Re: Turning my quest into a dsm.
hmm, interesting. Well, I will go back again some time for more power, maybe e85, but I'd like to see if I could go with 20 psi on pump. And thanks to the mod who moved this to the right place.

Re: Turning my quest into a dsm.
Ok, been a long time since I posted in here, but I've learned many things since then, figured alot of stuff out and I am formulating a plan for what's next.
Here's what has happened since the last post:
1. I redid the catch can setup and I could feel the difference in the upper RPMs and it now just catches oil, it doesn't mix it with condensation formed in the upper tubes. The rear tube (clear home depot one) is just a road draft style tube now.
2. I got a job, and got it switched over to e85. I made 363whp and 395 lbs of torque on monday, then the next saturday on MAP's dyno I made 20 hp less and 30 lbs less. Who knows exactly why, but I'm leaning towards a loss of head gasket integrity. It was spewing coolant out of the rad. cap on DB's dyno, and the clutch was slipping, so we called it quits that day. But now I can't get on it without having coolant come out from somewhere. I tried a new cap, and it just squirted out somewhere else.
3. I've parked it until I figure out exactly what was happening.
So with that said, here's what I have in store this winter:
1. The head's coming off anyway for new valves. And why not oversized stainless steel valves?
2. A new cam, either a 292 or 296 or combo of 292 intake and 296 exhaust. Both grinds provide .465" of lift, combined with my 1.4:1 rocker arms to equal .650" inches of lift, haha. I can has lopey idle? With this comes an adjustable cam gear and getting it all degreed properly.
3. Depending on what's reasonable and realistic, I may o-ring the head. It seems like all the 500whp and up g54b's are doing it. Just can't get their heads to stay clamped on the gasket well enough. I dunno.
4. new SPEC stage 3+ clutch good for low-mid 500 torque capacity.
5. bigger injectors. It's hard to make 500whp with 750's on e85. 1200's maybe?
So that's all I can think of right now, but I guess the stock tranny is like glass above 450whp, so I may have to get a supra w58 trans. I guy makes bellhousings that bolt to the wideblock and use the stock flywheel and clutch. but I guess when I get it all done and together, I'll buy a tranny blanket before a new trans. And for tuning, maybe put a 1/2" thick steel plate between the legs and the trans tunnel, haha.
I'll update as I purchase and install parts.
