Best experience ever!

As you guys may or may not know I was nearing the purchase of an 07 gt500 Shelby Cobra. Well a guy came over the top offering 20k over retail and he got the car . Well he got a flat the other day and brought it to the dealership and said he'd pick it up at the end of the day. Well after we got the $300 tire I had to test drive it to get the tire pressure light to go off and check for vibrations of course .

Well I'm driving it and I get to a straight open stretch with no others around. I give it gas and it accelerates slowly. Me and my fellow technician look at each other like this is 500 HP!? The all of a sudden the hole front ends in the air and it's accelerating like fuck. I ended up hitting 110 in the snap of a finger and had to shut down cause I was shitting my self. So when we're turning around I tap the gas barely 1/4 of an inch and the whole ass end snaps completely sideways and we're heading straight for the ditch so I jamm the clutch in then let out snap the gas and straighten it out. That thing is tits! It has so much fuckin power it's amazing. Just thought I'd share an amazing expereince with y'all. Take er easy!

Just think, for half of the cost you could have a mildly-modded Evo that is as fast or faster. On top of that, it will out-handle the stang and yes, you can drive it in the winter since it has AWD.

Would be fun to drive one of those, but they're way overpriced IMHO.

I completely agree, especially considering there a mustang besides the endine, the chassis and suspension components are the same except bigger brembo breaks and sway bars. But boy did I have a shitload of fun driving it. Right now I'm in the market of it a new VW Passat. I love the interior, and the warranty and its still turbo lol.

"nearing purchase", lol. A typical car guy would knock your fuck'n teeth in for taking someones car out like that. It happened to me once in my old GST. A guy went for a test drive and pulled out right before me, didn't know I was the owner of the car. He beat the shit out of it for about a mile and I went back to the shop and reemed some ass (like Tom on a 5 yr old, it was thick).

I thought they were kinda slow stock. They dyno in the low 400s at the wheels stock, but they have to wiegh around 4000lbs. They feel like a tank.

They like mods though, intake, pulley and a tune is good for around 500whp. Add header back exhaust and it will be close to 550whp. Here is a video of one we did this spring http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBjDXEPIZYI It put down 413whp stock. It still has stock motor, stock clutch, 100% stock fuel system.

The guy actually asked us how far we took it and we said quite a ways, and then he responded with, you guys were going kind of fast huh. We told him and he said, well the cars made to drive obviously. Then he went on telling us hes sending it to ford for the 40th anniversary package which gets it up around 600 ponies. He ended up leaving it over night again for us to take it out in the morning in whcih he incouraged us to give it what it got to make sure there was no vibrations, so he wouldn't find out the hard way.


And as far as from the GT500 to a Passat, I was going to be living from paycheck to paycheck with the GT500 since I didn't get that, I decided I wanted something that will be comfortably making my payments with money set aside towards my college loans down the road.

I like the styling of the S197 cars and even strongly considered buying one. The power/weight ratio and sloppy handling drove me away from them. The supercharged 5.4 makes decent power, it's too bad it's in a 4,000lb car.
