Well it was kind of a pathetic way the studds were put it, I had to use a bunch of washers and then used one of my lug nuts to zip them on. After the 5 were done I was told to use the tire the rest of the way to tighten them.

Thats actually the correct way to do it. Im not sure what your lug nuts look like but did you use the taperd(round) on the washers to zip them on? If so you could have damaged the taper and that could cause the wheel not to seat properly.
