As did I if I recall correctly. Reusing a head gasket is something not even a hillbilly newb would do.

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!
For the last goddamn time. I did not reuse my fucking gasket. I got a cometic HP, but drilled out 3 of the 4 rivets, coppersprayed all 4 parts, let sit overnight, then re-assembled, put back on the car, then slapped the head on, only to need to lift it off a bit to get the washers on..THAT's where I went wrong. If I get nothing but people finger pointing, then I won't ever update this thread again, and you all can go read some other shit. No skin off my ass. Shit happens sometimes, oh well! It will be fixed when I can fix it. Big fucking deal.

Why? I'd be willing to bet that has the potential to cause more issues than prevent any.

Its ok swifty. I do recall the conversation but it was more of a pondering as to whether to reuse or not to. which he came to the conclusion that he would not be reusing. I am reusing mine, and i will post up the compression tester results and we can compare. But i have always reused my metal head gaskets, never taken out the rivets though that seems pretty extreme. Maybe next time ring the block and head and not have to worry about expensive head gaskets.
Speaking of which have you done a compression test?

This thread is full of fail. I don't see the point to trying to be a cheapass and save a few bucks when it risks having the rip the head off again, buy a new gasket anyway, plus all the additional stress, headache, and downtime.

I just palmed face so hard I am now bleeding and partially blind. You have got to be joking. Please tell me you are.
Compression test isn't going to prove jack shit unless you absolutely fucked up the head installation or the gasket is severely messed up. When the cylinder fires it puts more pressure on the head gasket than just cranking the engine over will ever do.

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!
Or was it a new gasket that may have gotten mashed while dropping the head down? I had the same thing happen when I put my L19's on, the washers are so damn thick!

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!
I heard that it's worked for others in the past to hold higher cylinder pressure, and at the time I was NOT keen on dropping 200 fricken' dollars on a damn gasket. But, whatever. I am looking at my options..I have A1's. I guess it's either a Mitsu MLS or a felpro. But, it's a matter of cost difference vs. holding strength. Pros and Cons for each, and it seems everyone is all having different luck.

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!
I did mash it. For all I know it could also have been damaged sitting in the bottom drawer of my toolbox, with all the other shit I've tossed onto it..air tools, brake cleaner sprayer thing, scan tool, etc. Who knows. It's dumb, but in a way, I kinda wanna time how long it takes to swap the HG. Just not excited about the cost of a new hg, oil, coolant, etc.

Sorry swifty, you've wholeheartedly deserved this:
I've got an old cracked act 2600 PP and my stock evo disc laying around, you wanna toss them in there while you're at it?

You told me you were reusing your old one and spraying it up with copper spray. Did you mention anywhere in this thread that you got a new one? Not that I can remember....

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!
Mitsu metal and be done with it ( I've had one in my car for over a year at 530awhp, and never pushed any coolant). Cost is like $100. Cometic head gaskets SUCK!

Fixed.
Mitsu MLS with no spray gets my vote. Evo's stock head gasket is MLS and none of us recently have used copper spray and they've held just fine.
