Yet another new guy
Hey wassup guys im new here, fairly new to the MN area, new to dsm and turbo technology for that matter. I just picked up a rattle-canned black 94 tsi awd a couple weeks ago. It's a diamond in the rough condition. A few mods that came with the car: 16g, 550cc, 2g maf. Anyways, I go to school in St. Thomas and home in Chicago, IL in the summers. So I'm not in the Twin Cities right now, but will be in a couple weeks. Anyways just making my presence known and hope to see you guys in the future.
ps..I'm embarassed to post pics of my car right now so there are none yet.

Re: Yet another new guy
Yeah, don't be embarrassed, at least it's not primer gray!
First thing you should probably do is ditch the 2G MAF and get at the very least an SAFC. While the 2G MAF works great for mixture (just a bit rich) with the 550s at WOT, at lower throttle position (and therefore less airflow) the signal has greater frequency differences from the 1G MAF, causing excess fuel to be added, to the point where it's possible to wash your cylinder walls with fuel.

Huh? 550s and 2G MAS work almost perfect at all loads. 1G MAS would be way worse and way richer at all loads.

Re: Yet another new guy
Order of DSM related sites you should follow:
DSMStyle!>TeamNABR>ECMLink>CoDSM/RMDSM>DSMTuners and nothing else. DSMTalk was better than tuners years and years ago but then the owner sold it to an Ad company and it went to shit and never recovered.
Good old Talon digest si worth looking into just for some history and mn-dsm yahoo group was fun but I don't think anyone uses it anymore, maybe Shindley is still over there posting to himself?

Re: Yet another new guy
Yeah the 2g mas 550's combo is a good cheap mod and works well. I ran it for a couple days while I was mocking up my IC pipes to fit my gm maft, worked well.
