My favorite thing: They're protesting Arizona, but going there to do it meaning they're spending money in Arizona further supporting the state :D

Being smart is not a requirement of liberals.

Ok heres my take on this law.
I strongly DISagree with BOTH sides of this arguement.
The kids from LA and their teachers as well as their superintendent all need to calm the fuck down. The Teachers and Super need to be fired. Being a part of any organization that believes the Mexicans need to rise up and take over is BS.
On the other side, the mexicans are the new blacks of the 50s and 60s. and everyone thinks its Normal to be able to talk shit on them for the jobs they take. They get paid slave wages and fear every day they could have la migra come into their house and deport them.
This law will do nothing but cause police officers to harass people based on their color/looks. And a lot of the times they will be harassing Citizens. Not all mexicans are illegal. Believe it or not, this law is racist against mexicans. They didnt pass this to deport canadians.
I think there needs to be immigration reform on a fed level, that is not biased towards keeping the US white. But making it so that its easier for people from other countries that have a clean background to get citizenship, this would make it so that more people are paying taxes and putting in money.
Dont take this the wrong way but...
The US NEEDS ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS...
Yes i said it, we NEED them. They play a vital role in society, they take jobs that no one wants to do, and do it at slave wages which keeps the prices low. Whats the alternative? Shipping the jobs to Mexico which takes away from our USA products. Polaris just did this, and will be laying off an entire factory of WI workers to open up a Mexican factory where they can give them sweat shop prices. :(

This is not a cut and dry issue that many people think it is. There are so many issues that create a snowball effect on the economy, corporations, and the people themselves. But its nothing that is going to get solved on a state level. In order to have any effect whatsoever it needs to happen on a FEDERAL Level.

OK, here's my take on it:

There's not a job an American wouldn't do if it paid fairly for the work. I am way far right of Liberal, way far right. BUT, I do have the same belief as Ted Kennedy that no man should work 40 hrs a week and still live below the poverty line. And that's what's expected with the illegals.

Let's use the "Picking Lettuce" analogy that people love to toss into the discussion. Typical thought goes like this. "If we didn't have those people here picking lettuce for $4 per hour, we would not be able to afford to buy lettuce and those farmers would go out of business. So lets break it down. How many heads of lettuce could one worker pick an hour? Let's be conservative and say 1 per minute. I'm sure they can harvest heads of lettuce much faster than that with sharp blades, but I'll go with 1 per minute. That's 60 heads of lettuce per hour. At $4 an hour that equates to $.066666667 or 7 cents per head of lettuce. Current minimum wage is $7.25 but I'll round up to $8 per hour. So now by using American workers your cost on a head of lettuce just went up 7 cents per head. If they pick 2 heads of lettuce per minute, your cost only went up 4 cents per head of lettuce. If they pick 4 heads of lettuce in a minute, your cost just went up 2 cents per head of lettuce. So where's the problem?

The real reason they are here is to bring the American worker down to that level of income. Look at whats going on. The middle class is going away because big business keeps getting bigger while the income of the American worker keeps getting lower.

Last time I checked, we didn't have millions of Canadians crossing the border illegally.

Tom, you really need to read the law. It has more requirements against profiling than the Federal law. Nobody is going to get tapped on the shoulder and asked for their "papers". If a law enforcement officer is already in a lawful contact with a person, and that person cannot produce proper identification like a driver's license, social security card, etc and that person raises suspicion that they might not be in America legally, that officer has the right to detain them under the grounds that they might be here illegally. This racial profiling crap is out of hand. Mexicans are crossing illegally into the country, so the law of probability is that Mexicans will be here illegally without proper identification that makes them legal. If someone murders somebody and there is a witness, race is always given in a description of the suspect. So if it's reported a white male was a suspect, does that make it racial profiling if a suspicious white man was found in the area?

I actually agree with you on most of your points. But your forgetting the other items that go in with employing someone legally. Such as taxes, insurance, unemployment etc. Where if they were legal these would need to be paid. A company can employ these illegal immegrants by paying them under the table lower wages and get around paying the other things.
But I really do agree. Illegal Immegrants, which the name itself suggests an illegal activity by being here anyway. Should be fined/deported for being her ILLEGALLY. BUT, on the other side of things, The Mexican-American Citizens that are here Legally will be paying the price. Cops will be able to FIND reasons to pull them over just to check their documents.
Being that its on a state level, it wont have much of an effect (illegals can simply move out of the state) but a better route would be to get full Federal reform of the Immigration process, So that these state rules are just stupid.
