Nice to see Arizona is standing tough in what they believe in: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/05/19/arizona-official-threatens-cut-los-angeles-power-payback-boycott/
All these "boycotts" are just ridiculous. One group is calling for a boycott of Frito Lays because they sponsor a college football bowl game held in Arizona; they're sponsoring a game, not state law!

Goddamn I didn't realize people/companies were boycotting AZ. What a fucking joke. Racial profiling, yes that's kinda the point! As long as the police are respectful about it....oh wait.

Its the right idea, but wrongly applied. They are singling out mexicans.. which sure it makes sense in this application but how can you tell they are illegal or not? Its profiling.
Of course it's profiling. The last time I checked Mexico is the only country that borders Arizona. I just checked again and, yes, still the only country that shares that border. If Mexicans want to come here so bad they can come here legally like everyone else. We turn back Cubans that come on makeshift boats, people get sent back from Asia and Europe if they plan to just walk in without a visa or any legal documentation, but the moment we target Mexicans it's as if we're committing some sort of crime.

Just goes to show how clueless people are.

Oklahoma wants to adopt this awesome law too.
Like I don't get pulled over enough already. I'm down with keeping useless immigrants out, but thats like saying lets rid MN of all the swedes, guess who is going to get pulled over then.

If you are here legally then I don't see what the problem is.

I dunno but if I were legal and looked mexican and I got stopped every other day to check if im legal or not, Id probably get pissed.
The profiling thing kinda bugs me, even though there really is no way around it. We need to control our borders more, it should be on a federal level, not just a state level.

That's just it. The border patrol deal put in place by federal government isn't doing much good so the state stepped up to the plate and did something about it.
Once the border is sealed up and illegal immigration laws are tightened then the amount of illegal immigrants in the country will go down. We need to stop the bleeding before fighting the infection.

I love what Arizona is doing. This may be out there but I believe one of the reasons construction workers dont get paid the best is because we have so many illegals workin for so damn cheap. They would eventually bring this country down.

Screw California. Let em live in the dark.
As for the actual law, I'm 2-sided on it simply because I lived in AZ and have seen the negative effects of illegal immigration, but have also been close to good families that have a person that is there illegally. My ex-g/f's father is a hard working man who picks cabbage in San Luis. He is a kind man, who doesn't have much but provides for his wife and 2 daughters as best he can, and doesn't cause drama. Although yes I agree it's wrong he came here illegally, I can forsee the detriment it would cause to that family and him if he got taken away after living here for so long.
I personally think that law enforcement won't use this new law in the way that places like California think. I see it as a tool that is in their back pocket to use now, when appropriate. I don't think every Mexican is going to get constantly questioned all the time now. I guess I see it as a tool, just like how cops pull people over for a "probable cause" violation when they suspect someone is driving drunk. They can't pull you over just for suspecting you're drunk, they have to have a lawful reason to pull you over like a marker light burnt out or something. Doesn't mean they pull everyone over just because you have a marker light out, but the law is there for them to use it if they need to.
If there's a bunch of gangbanger guys that are always in the yard, scaring the neighbors and the police suspect they are illegal and suspect foul play, but the police can never pin anything down on them making it so their hands are tied. Well hey now they have a "tool" that allows them to approach and question them now. Doesn't mean that any mexican just out moving his sprinklers are going to be questioned (I hope).
If they use this new law to start constantly harrassing anyone who looks mexican, well then I don't think that is a good thing. If they just use it as a tool and use it wisely to help clean things up, then I do think it will help.
Just my 2 cents.
