The packets are given out so that no one gets lost, people know where we're stopping, etc. Some people will want to go fast, some slow. This way no one gets left behind and we can all meet up for lunch, wayside stops, etc.

Peter makes a good point, its not like i am not good for the $$, but i don't like having my pants pulled down, the whole point of the cruise to be a GROUP, so no one should get left behind unless something gets fucked up.

Also i didnt think you would want it paypaled cause of the fees.
Well at least this means prizes should be bomb for the dyno day with all the money going in.

Nick/munchgsx said he will get rear calipers to me tonight, i should be putting the tranny back in on saturday, then all thats left is TB, gauges, waterpipe and maybe a tune, well at least some test time before the cruise.
Oh and i am supposed to coat the underbody, but like i said bare bones.

We will be having the map packets, they worked too well on the fall cruise and I will not even considering going without them. With these larger groups it gets very difficult to keep 20+ cars together in a solid groups when passing through towns with stoplights, stop signs, etc. We do our best planning a route that avoids as much of this as possible, but its not feasible to avoid it all. It is much easier knowing that everyone knows exactly where we are going just in case they get split up from the main group so they are able to catch up to us either on the road or at the next pre-determined meeting spot that is marked on the map. Honestly, if you have a problem with the $5 fee send me a PM and we can discuss why it is that you are unable to afford the cost (less than 2 gallons of gas or a movie ticket) for two days of fun that supports the forum and community that we spend a portion of our day using as entertainment (posting, reading, shoutbox, arcade, etc.). The reason we do a "bomber-run" is so we can have the most fun route possible. On the fall cruise and now also this one we found some roads that we otherwise would not have traveled that are very neat roads that everyone is sure to get a thrill from. Also, had it not been for the bomber run, we would have never been able to plan/make that fly-by video that Scheides posted a few days ago.

Don't like having your pants pulled down? We are asking for a $5 donation to the site to help cover the expenses. We aren't trying to make a profit so please stop acting like we are out to screw you. Any left-over funds are going right back to the community in the form of prizes anyway. I don't know about you guys, but I would love to have things where Scheides isn't losing his personal money every year on the site and events.

There will always be at least a few cars that get separated, this can not be avoided which is exactly why we have the packets.

As for the Paypal fees, I am willing to eat those out of my own pocket in order to make this as easy as possible for people; if you'd prefer $5 cash is fine too.

Planning these large group events takes a lot of time and effort, and with that comes expenses. I am thankful to have a board admin like Scheides to help make all of this possible; having him help me with the cruises makes things easier on me and better for the entire group.

What are the expenses? Id be willing to donate my time to plan events for free, and if there was some material expense, like food, or paper, I would want it reimbursed sure, but I dont see that here..

How many pages is this packet? If its just one sheet of info, why not post it up as a link and have people print it? If people forget it, or dont print it, then thats too bad for them, and they can meet us at the hotel later.

The bomber run, to me isnt necessary, since I wont be doing any flybys on the highways for a camera...

And what happens if all 30+ people signed up now dont prepay?

The packets will probably be around 10-15 pages for this cruise. I don't remember exactly what they were in the fall, but I'm thinking 16 or 17 pages.

I would post it up for people to print themselves because:
1. I don't want the exact route being public knowledge ahead of time for a few reasons, but I will say the S2k group ran into many issues doing that in the past.
2. People won't print them, we'd be lucky if half the people came with the packets printed.

The bomber run may not be necessary to you, but it makes the overall group experience much better. We found some neat detours on the fall cruise and we found some really cool roads for this spring cruise that we otherwise would have not traveled.

I just ran some numbers and even at $5/car we'll probably still be in the red all said and done after the cruise.

Ban me then.
Don't cry about it, why is donating $5 to the site such a big deal? I'm going to pay $10 to have people banned.

wow I've never seen so much commotion about $5. Stop trying to save $3 and just go with it. Scheides has spent a ton of time and effort putting this all together and making sure it will be tons of fun. If anything do it as a thank you to him. You guys need to get the sand outa your vaginas and quit bitching like little silly sallys.

It's $5. They've reserved a section of hotel rooms, bomber run, etc. In my experience the car cruises I have been on range from $10-$15 per person. Last year I went on the MNSubaru cruise to La Crosse. 70 cars. $10 a person. For example: My girlfriend and I went, that cost $20, even though she didn't drive down she still had to pay $10. It could be a lot worse. You only have to pay $5 per car. That means pack 5 people in your car and its still only $5. Bring someone with you, split the costs...then it's only $2.50 a person. The only difference is that at the MNSubaru cruise we had food catered and a shelter rented out for us.

Even with 70 cars, we got maps of our routes to keep us all together. You'd be surprised how hard it is to keep that many cars together on a highway down to La Crosse.

I honestly don't think that paying $5 to the people who are taking their time to organize this is asking to much. If $5 is going to make or break your decision on whether or not to go...maybe a new hobby should be taken up?
