Damn that's getting up there in compression numbers. How much of a difference could something as simple as a thicker headgasket make?

I hope it isn't like a Madzaspeed Protege where they just took the NA motor and slapped a turbo on it without lowering the compression or making it able to hold any power.

You could throw in a thicker HG. It's an extremely common practice with the 2JZGE found in the SC300 and and NA MKIV Supra. Those motors are 10.0:1 compression stock, but have very strong internals. You can throw in a stock TT HG and get it down to around 9.3:1 compression or put in a thicker one from Cometic or one of the Supra shops and get it down in the 8.0 - 9.0:1 range.

Big power turbo S2k guys generally run a thicker head gasket as well.

That is exactly what I was trying to get at earlier. I hear a lot of hype about how this car is getting the same motor as the EVO's (meaning 4b11t). But from my research, the only thing I've found to be known for sure is that it'll have a turboed 4b11, but there are different variations of the 4b11. The evo's 4b11 was beefed up to handle the extra power, but nothing I've read had solid evidence showing if this is the beefed up one in the evo's, or if it's a weaker standard 4b11 with a turbo slapped on it.

That's just what my research has shown. If anyone has a link to any evidence that states otherwise, please share!

I'm going to withhold judgment until a few blow up. Then we'll see where it stands.

I don't know for sure if it's the exact same block as the EvoX, but I do know that the Genesis motor does have oil squirters, and the non turbo 4b11 doesn't. I've been looking for some schematic, or pictures of it, but nobody has taken pics with the head off, or the bottom end to see if it has the 4bolt mains and reinforced sleeves. But as far as I know, there's only one variant of the 4b11t, and one variant of the non turbo 4b11. Also, I think the non turbo 4b11 uses 10:1 compression pistons.

I would rather have a NA Honda S2000 then a brand new car.

2JZ S2000 FTW!
