Anyone who says pot isnt a gateway drug is full of shit.

Well, technically it isn't. The reason it is said to be a gateway drug is because of the lifestyle of the people surrounding it. There is no physical link between smoking pot and doing hard drugs. Alcohol and tobacco could also be called gateway drugs, because more people who smoke/drink end up using hard drugs, but not everyone does, so you have to see the other factors.

What made them do hard drugs, smoking a joint, or hanging out with the people who smoked the joint with them, and happened to have some coke/heroin that night. Catch my drift?

Edit: BTW, I'm not a pothead, nor am I defending/promoting pot smoking, just clearing up some misconseptions about the whole gateway drug thing...

For once I side with blue89quest. While its not chemically a gate way drug, it gets you in to much of a fucked up mind state.

And Haredx: There are exceptions to every rule. Look at the majority of pot heads? Social low lives is what most of them are. And how do I know? Because they were my friends. And they were all social leeches as well. But after graduation everything becomes clear of who is going where and why.

But what did the people that do hard drugs start out on? Pot is cool(to the user) until you get sick of it and want to try something else. I have heard both sides and I still think that if people dont try pot they will more than likely never try coke of anything else. Yes it is probably the people that surround them that are the culprits and not the drug itself but I still think people get sick of the pot feeling and want to try something else.

I have tons of friends who smoke pot on a regular basis(3-5 times a week) all of which are very driven and successful, they all have steady jobs and perfect attendance at work. My parents make $200,000/year combined and they both smoke pot on a regular basis, one is a lawyer and the other is a sales manager. I myself smoke multiple times a week and I am a bartender and make enough money to own my own condo, you guys can say whatever you want about drugs but saying that all stoners are low-life addicts that are going nowhere in life is just the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. Pot is in NO WAY WHATSOEVER a gateway drug, there are no phyiscal addictions at all associated to smoking pot despite what propaganda might tell you. I have been smoking for 7 years and pot is the only drug I use on a regular basis I have never and will never get into any hardcore drugs. All of you non-smokers don't have any foundation for any of your points you just personally don't agree with it so to you it has to be wrong, you all need to go watch Penn and Teller's Bullshit: War on Drugs and get some facts. Penn has never smoked pot in his entire life and he has never drank a sip of alcohol in his life but at least he is willing to do some research to find that marijuana is a harmless drug and by making laws against use and posession of it we are only creating more crime and murder by creating a black market.
