Re: Power troubles

you should bring it to an auto zone and have your battery and alternator tested. Also Is it just your seatbelts or is it other things too? And as far as the alarm goes, do you have the manual that tell you what each beep means. It might be beeping to tell you that the battery is going dead.

Re: Power troubles

or if you have your own multimeter you can test your battery yourself. should be about 12.6v DC resting and 14.4v DC when it is running

Re: Power troubles

My alternator's out and I haven't gotten it fixed yet.. Just been taking it out and charging it indoors every night. The alarm was installed by the guy that had the car before me. I've looked into the manual online. It talks about an LED light that says which sensor is malfunctioning, but there is no LED in the car. *shrug*

Re: Power troubles

Could the dead alternator be causing these problems?

<--- so does that mean your runnig your car on just battery power? That I'm sure is not very good at all for the battery. because while your driving, your battery would normally be charging the battery. Since you don't have one in your battery will slowly drain and die, which will leave you stranded where ever you are.

Re: Power troubles

Meh, batteries are cheap and can be replaced in less than a minute. Not worried about mine, just want to make sure my car's alright. I have an alternator already sitting in the garage, maybe it's time I get off my a$$ and do it.

Re: Power troubles

Yea maybe it is time to get off your butt and install the alternator... For every 15 minutes you take your battery out every night and charge it and reinstall it you could have spent an hour and just replaced the alternator?? Kinda retarded logic but whatever.

Batteries are not that "cheap" either if you want a quality peice. Ussually around 50 bucks.

You should probably read the rules too and post about yourself...

Re: Power troubles

If you are good you could install an Alt. in under 10 minutes. They are very easy on a DSM. At least something is!!

Re: Power troubles

Alternator is a very easy thing to accomplish on a DSM. Put it on and tighen the belt is reverse order of how you took the old one off. The belt needs to be tight enough to no slip/squeak, but not so tight it wrecks the bearings. After you install it, at idle turn on the headlights (highbeam), AC with full fan, and your rear defroster...if its going to slip/squeak now will be the time.
