Re: Go look at the moon, NOW
Its called a lunar halo, its from ice crystals/water vapor in the clouds, they act like tiny lenses.I've read about them and seen pics, but never saw one with my own eyes.Fucking great

Re: Go look at the moon, NOW
Wow thats kinda neat! I know of another strange atmospherical abnormality that I noticed a few years back.
When it really cold outside, im talking nose hairs freezing when u walk outside. Sometimes it appears there is a second and occasionally 3rd sun. I believe the term for them is "sun dogs" and its a similar phenomenon with moisture in the air condensing and freezing, reflecting off the sun and creating the illusion of the additional "suns".

Even if you could, the halo wouldn't of been visible from where you're at anyway.

may be referring to the Aurora Borealis (sP)...
I was told that it was slightly visible tonight about 60 miles from the cities... To persons in the cities, it may just appear to be a faint white cloud... somewhere near the position of the moon...
Get farther out, and the colors begin to show... All and all a very beautiful night...

Re: Go look at the moon, NOW
I saw it on the news again a few minutes ago. I have seen it several times before. I had a class where I had to do moom observations last winter. I thought it was just the moon behind the clouds.
