Spark questions

Ok this isnt for a DSM but I just want to know. Should you be able to see any spark from the plugs when they are threaded in to the head? I can see spark right about the threads below the ceramic like part. Is this normal on some plugs? is this how they ground!?

Re: Spark questions

You shouldn't see spark anywhere. Is it sparking from the socket part to the head, or through the plug wire boot that goes over the ceramic?

Re: Spark questions

This is on a corisa, its the part under the ceramic, the plug book covers, the metal tip on the top of the plug and most of the ceramic, this is coming from right about the threads I think, I see it on 3 of the plugs, maybe all 4.

Re: Spark questions

If you see spark you have problems. Replace those plugs and wires. The wire boots are probably so old the spark is arching to the head.

Re: Spark questions

Also it is a smal spark, seems about the size of the one my plugs put out when i have them out of the head. No huge long arc or anything.

Change the spark plugs and wires. It was running fine until the spark started jumping. You should never see a spark jumping when the engine is running. If it's jumping a spark on the outside, it's not firing the cylinder on the inside. Change the parts out, it will be fine.
