BOV Location

I could have sworn that placing the BOV as close to the throttle body would reduce a surge of air each time you let off the gas. But i seem to have trouble finding a confirming answer. Wonder if anyone knows the answer, or could explain why the location doesn't matter.

Put the car back together, but the BOV is pre FMIC and my first test and rev blew 2 vacuum lines off the car. Not sure if it was on weak, or my memory was correct. The two lines were the blown off was the boost gauge and BOV line.
