Re: Big gun!

A couple of those guys had only partial butt resting on their upper arms. Those are the ones that are going to hurt, especially the second time around.

Re: Big gun!

I doubt it's a slug. It says .577 caliber, which is not huge in the muzzle loader world. The difference here is it's probably firing at velocities reserved for modern style rifles of a much smaller caliber.

*edit* This is the one.

"The .577 Tyrannosaur is a proprietary cartridge developed by A-Square in 1993. It is an entirely new design, not based on any previous cartridge for the hunting of large game in Africa." (quoted from Wikipedia)
So I assume they're trying to drop a full grown bull Elephant in one shot?

The .577 is really to be used as a "Stopper". It's for stopping a charging rhino. You don't need something like that for an elephant. Some folks even use .375 H&H for elephant. Most times you see the T-Rex, it's without muzzle brake or buttpad and is throwing a dirka around a rifle range. You would NEVER hunt with a primary that has no muzzle brake or buttpad. It's just kept around a range to shut up the big talkers.
