Street racing gone REALLY bad!

Saw this over on 3SI. A street racing crash kills a spectator and one of the drivers gets shot for trying to help him. YouTube videos:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Hg_GI_6kqwE
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ulzErCEOhqk&feature=related

News station coverage:

Sounds like two rival street racing gangs. Its just one sad and crazy story.

later,
Curt

Re: Street racing gone REALLY bad!

waiting to watch the vids untill they load, but that sounds really stupid. Street racing should only be done between friends or people you know fairly well, then you only have to worry about cops and traffic.

Re: Street racing gone REALLY bad!

Overpowered RWD cars + people standing in front of them = no shit.

Just by being present, spectators (in my opinion) void their rights to stay alive.

Dont get me wrong, I love street racing, just within reason....an abandoned warehouse district at 2am with 2 cars one driver each sounds good to me.

Street racing gangs? getting shot? WTF!

Re: Street racing gone REALLY bad!

Why would the guy trying to help the person who was hit, get shot? I don't understand that part at all. Can't say I'm suprised about the accident though. Cars like that need to stay on the track.

Street racing is like going to watch a rally race, you take your life in your own hands. But to shoot someone after the fact, that is messed up, gangs ftl.

Any car going more than 10mph then hitting a person will be considered fast by the person who got hit. If you don't die from the impact, you might from getting run over by the car/truck.

I got hit head on when I was out in my yard, by a car going 30mph, and didn't even get a scratch.

Re: Street racing gone REALLY bad!

Word is that there was somewhere aroudn 20k on that race. Not that I was there or anything, a local guy on another forum knew some people there and heared this and that, blah blah blah. If it's true, I can understand why some nig nogs would go and shoot up some random people. It's probably not, but who knows these days
