Very nice! Was this car running the same tune today at LSE? For reference, on their Dyno Dynamics it put down ~405whp. That's some nice powa!!!

What all did you do to make it run E85? Great numbers!

Re: 479whp ~ 427 ft/lbs on OEM Longblock!
The boost was the same as it was when we made 480, but he street tuned it some right before the dyno as it was breaking up under boost. Didn't seem to break up too badly on the dyno on the 2nd pull, and it put down pretty decent power, so we have nothing to complain about.
E85 "mods"
1000cc injectors (I think)
Walbro fuel pump
Stock feed and return lines
Aftermarket AFPR
AFC-2 for tuning
2g MAS (duh)
We will probably turn the boost up and go for 525ish wheel hp and then take it to the track. At least that is what *I* want to do (not my car)!
Its got everything BUT a built motor, so why not blow this one up.......right? Right!

Meh, if Mike Rizzotti can make 584ish on a stock motor, there's no reason you guys can't make the standard up higher.

Was he on stock ECU and tuning with an SAFC? C16?
E85 and running the stock timing map will fuck things up QUICKLY if there is any detonation.
Were not worried about the rods, but the 6bolt pistons will crack a ringland with pretty much ANY detonation at this power level it seems.
I'm sure we'll have it up on the dyno making more power shortly........But I think we want to get it to the track and try to put down a time before it blows up and Alex has to fork over money for a built motor! Even at this power level, I think a 128ish mph trap speed isn't out of the question. I want to see 130, but it's Alex's car.

Re: 479whp ~ 427 ft/lbs on OEM Longblock!
Didn't Nash make 531 whp on a 2g piston/1g rod bottom end? His head was lightly ported, but had smaller cams and an SCM61. His was on C-16, 2g mas and SAFC also. I would say that is the number to shoot for

Re: 479whp ~ 427 ft/lbs on OEM Longblock!
It should be good. My wifes 1G puts down 384awhp on the DD with a factory mitsu longblock with the metal Mistu headgasket, HKS 272s, 50-trim@26psi, 1G MAS. The turbo is just about shot on it, so I want to goto an SC61 and wasn't too worried about the motor taking it. Nash's motor went through hell and held up for a while.

Re: 479whp ~ 427 ft/lbs on OEM Longblock!
You two got married?
Once again I'm not worried about the 1g rods. I am worried about the pistons. 2g pistons are known to hold up to substantially more abuse than the thin land 6bolt pistons. I have seen countless burnt/cracked ringlands on OE 6bolt motors. I must say that Nash's motor did take a SHIT TON of abuse though. I've never thought a motor was going to blow up so much in my entire life than when I heard he was running 40lbs.
We'll see what happens and what Alex wants to do. I think if we hit 510-520whp and take it to the track, we might like the results! There will be no C16! E98 will probably max out his injectors, so we are stuck with E85. Hopefully the Walbro 255HP can keep up.

Yea, we got married last fall.
Why no C16? Just because of cost?
Yea, it's always a risk pushing a car that far. You never know if you got the factory freak motor also or the one they built right after drinking a 6-pack at lunch.

Re: 479whp ~ 427 ft/lbs on OEM Longblock!
Because C16 is too easy!
The way I look at it is it is a low compression motor running a fuel that "cools" compared to gasoline, and makes more power than 110 octane, there is no need for C16. That and it cost's a boatload.
I don't see why we can't make a trackable 525whp. And then tune it back to like 450 for daily driving.

Re: 479whp ~ 427 ft/lbs on OEM Longblock!
Mike still didn't blow up his motor at 585 whp, he just pulled it to be on the safe side. He's very careful about everything he does to his car including tuning, so you can be sure it lasted that way due to probably never seeing detonation. I'm sure 600 whp+ on a stock block is feasible with careful tuning.

You're thinking of the big three automakers. I don't think they allow unions in the Japanese owned American plants.

What kind of airflow #'s are you seeing? Surpised the 2G MAS isn't freaking out yet.
I ran a stock block setup as well for years making 500+whp never had any problems.

No idea on air flow numbers.
I am equally suprised the 2g MAS isn't getting outflowed yet.
