Skiing in powder past my shoulders!
Well day two here at Big Sky and there was about 20" of powder on the upper part of the mountain. It was INSANE! Here you can clearly see my right pole and my left hand (black glove). Everything else covered by powder rushing over me.
A few more turns and I stopped, and the snow was past my knees!
More pics and high res here:

Dude, if you have room in your trip for an extra person next year PLEASE let me know. I'm dying to snowboard in some deep powder.

Re: Skiing in powder past my shoulders!
I 2nd on the snowboarding in poweder. The sucky thing is when you slow down on a board you start to wobble. Kinda sucks but powder is sweet.

Re: Skiing in powder past my shoulders!
No slowing down when you're on a 50 degrees slope! The steeps make the powder fun, and the powder makes the steeps fun!
My brother's girlfriend came with on this trip and unfortunately took a hard spill as she was learning to snowboard. She's now in a splint, and will have to have surgery and a full-arm cast when we get back to the cities She's in pain and upset, but still in overall good spirits. 45 here today so shit's getting melty!

Re: Skiing in powder past my shoulders!
I just did Crested Butte in Colorado. There was so little snow some of it was turning brown. Turned around and went to Monarch. Got a full day of fresh powder I'm still sore from the crazies I was with taking me down the damn double blacks.

Re: Skiing in powder past my shoulders!
When was this? I was out in the Grand Tetons, which isnt all that far from Big Sky in Feb. We spent most of the time snowmobiling, but I got my snowboarding in too.

Re: Skiing in powder past my shoulders!
Damn, how much do they have left for a base now? We went snowboarding at Targhee. It was about 40 degrees out then and all the snow was getting pretty slushy so it kind of sucked. I'm surprised they have much snow left.
On the snowmobiles we were all over in this area, we clocked in about 250 miles on the new sleds in 3 days. That was a blast, all that powder on sleds... Hell yeah!
Coming back to MN after a trip out west is kind of depressing though. Haha.
