Cold getting to you yet?

Damn it was cold this weekend!!! high was -5 the whole time and dipped down to -13 on Friday night, -15 on Sat night, and -18 on Sunday night! I let the evo sit since like 6pm on Friday and I was worried my little mini battery kit would not want to turn over...it was like -16 when I went to crank her over, but she fired right up! 5w30 FTW! :P

We took Anna's car out shopping on Saturday and I could not believe how many people were out and about. Guess we Minnesotans are supa tough! Turbo helped keep me warm all weekend, he insisted on laying on me the whole time

Everyone else hanging ok with the cold?

I'm still alive and was downtown Fri, Sat, and Sun night! The Laser fires right up and runs like a champ with 10W-30 and a Walmart battery.

Yeah, walking like 6 blocks home at 2 am Saturday night (or Sunday morning depending on how you look at it) wasnt a whole lot of fun. I dont know, cold like this is an excellent reason not to go to lecture .

Re: Cold getting to you yet?

We had a rought time starting the Prisim the other day after leraving it outside but she ended up firing up pretty well. Sat we did venture out to pick up a new TV for the living room, it was cold, but tollerable. Yesterday I stayed inside all day. The neighbors furnace gave out yesterday morning and it was dipping below 50 degrees in their house. With a little boy over there we invited them over, but while they waited for the service guy to show up we sent over a heater to use. Would of sucked to not have heat yesterday.

Re: Cold getting to you yet?

The cold doesn't bother me too much I guess. I was outside working on the truck 2 weekends ago and although not as cold as this past one it wasn't exactly warm.

What bothers me the most is we bought a boat last September and only got to take it out twice before we had to put it in storage. So now I'm getting VERY impatient in waiting for spring to get here.

yeah, the rolla couldn't hack it spending the night outside, but i guess it doesn't help that i have drained the battery at least a handful of times already.

I wish it would warm up to at least 30's soon because I need to pull the transmission out of my old car and I will be doing it in a non-heated garage.

Re: Cold getting to you yet?

Well, my car cranks slowely. I gotta turn the fuel on for a bit firtst, because it sounds like it's fricken frozen in the lines! But, once that's "flushed", the cranking starts. It takes a bit to turn it over, but once it fires up and warms up a bit, she's good for the day. I left it at st. kate's over night on sat., and she did fine sunday afternoon when I left before the game started. deep-cycle optima battery FTW!!

It's Pretty nice out today. I hope this is a sign of good weather to come. The part that sucks is that my dad insists to have the window in the laundry room open, because it's too "warm" in the basement for our computers. My room is next door, so it's rather freezing. I have 3 comforters, 6 blankets, 2 sheets, and it's still borderline not enough.

Re: Cold getting to you yet?

I'm pretty happy. I went and started all 15 cars I have in inventory and all but 2 started right up. Not bad.

Days like this make me wonder when this Global Warming scare is actually coming, we could sure use it this winter. Speaking of that, I heard Gore is getting ready to release his global cooling movie now, the one he made simultaneously with his other movie "An Inconvenient Theory". It fits a little better right now.

Re: Cold getting to you yet?

I am so glad that my garage is insulated and heated. I keep it at 48 degrees. It sure was nice jumping into a warm car this morning.

Of course, my natural gas bill is out of this world.

later,
Curt

Ames has been nice during this cold snap. I pulled out my Carhart coveralls for class a couple times last week so I've always stayed warm.

On the other hand, back in Decorah, 3 of the 4 normally operational vehicles at my parent's house did not start this morning.
