Anti-Freeze problem

I have anti-freeze coming out of the resivor tank/white plastic container, then the car over heats. Anyone have a clue what is happening? Its a 1997 eclipse GST

Re: Anti-Freeze problem

No problem Sticky. I recomend a stock Mitsu gasket with ARP head studs. Some people like copper spraying the gasket so thats something to consider too.

Have you overheated the engine or have you always caught it and shut it down before it got into the red?

Re: Anti-Freeze problem

Yeah it overheated once, I let it cooled down for about an hour and then filled it up again. After that it was good for about a week, and then it started again. It seems fine for awhile after I fill it back up with antifreeze.

Re: Anti-Freeze problem

Dont just jump right to the HG. Thats what EVERYONE told me too but it was simply the radiator cap a nice $10 fix Vs. a $200+ fix.

I just had the same problem and it was the thermostat. Cheap fix.
