Hopefully someone here can explain this to me,

I have my next setup on the way and am wondering if I have all I am going to need to make it work without blowing stuff up.

I am going to be running:

EVO3 16g, will be ported with 34mm flapper
FMIC
Stock 1G manual cams
Stock 1G MAS with dejon tool intake
2G O2 housing, ported
1G Exhaust Manifold
2.5" exhaust
Walbro 255
AFC

It is going on my 92 TSi with 171K but great compression all across.

Here are my questions:

I have a set of 510cc injectors I will probably be getting rid of in favor for a set of Fuel Injector Clinic 650's. (Shane hopefully I didn't miss the boat on a better price than 320 but if I did it is okay) I am told these will be enough, but are they possibly too much? I want to give myself some head room when I decide to get something else(not soon, but possible).

Also am I going to need some type of AFPR? If so what kind and how much would it run?

And what would be the recommended boost levels for race and street given this setup?

Finally are there any other things anyone could think I would possibly need on top of that listed above?

Sorry about all the newb questions but I want to make sure it is done right and I am sure you guys out there know how to do it that way.

Thanks in advance.

If that 255 pump is HP you will need a AFPR. There are several types/brands out there. Aeromotive seems to make good stuff.

The injectors will work fine.

Race fuel you could go 20-24 psi reliably, but you would be getting outside the efficiency of that turbo.

Pump gas could go 16-20 depending on your tuning.

You should try to go with a 2g MAS a 2g exhaust manifold.

You can live without a FPR, people made due forever without them until recently when everyone thinks they need one. With a hacked 1G mas on a 1G, you are almost always going to be lacking fuel at idle/low throttle even with 550s so too much fuel pressure under vacuum on a 1G isn't the worst thing ever. With an unhacked 2G MAS on a 2G, the 2Gs shitty fuel return setup and the 2Gs higher base fuel pressure it can be more of a problem on a 2G. You will need to do something about your stock 1G MAS though, it will metering problems pretty early on.

Upto about 60psi the Walbro 255 and 255HP flow almost exactly the same amount, so any fuel overrun problems will be the same with either.

ShapeGSX ran 28psi on the EVO 16G and went quite fast, but you wouldn't want to do that without good race gas, head studs and some tuning. Otherwise most people run 16-20 on pump and 20-24 on race.

That helps a lot. Shane I will be bringing it over to you when I get it done for sure to get it tuned and add on some more stuff. Also just in case you missed it am I too late for a buy in on those FIC injectors? If so I will still be giving you money either way.

Thanks.

Weren't you going to build your engine? I would say you need a k & n on your list also.

Me- "I don't think you would stand a chance."
Cop says "probably not" and drives off.

:uh: maybe he should add NGK BPR7ES spark plugs and Magnacore wires to his list while he's at it.

Chances are he has the air filter covered.

The very basics are usually assumed.

Yea, everyone already has their injectors.

I was, but do not have the time or that extra money above what I have already spent. I do already have a K&N and the aircan is completely cut.

I was intending on the 7's, I don't yet have them(NAPA is down the road). And I already have some 8.5mm wires but will probably replace them just in case.

I tried to list the mods that were going to affect the setup, but I guess I should of mentioned those too.

Now for the next question, I saw on Dejon's site that they have a specific intake for using a 2G MAS on a 1G, is that needed or can I use the one I bought? Also what kind of experience has anyone else had with the GM MAS setup? The pipe I have is supposedly ready for it.

Thanks.

The GM maft is nice, lots of good sound and flows much better than the 2g mass, but it costs more witht he translator.
