Windshield Replacement

So yeah I had my windshield replaced today because there was a tiny crack (1/4") right in front of me along with about a million other little chips here and there (original windshield, car is a 2001). Anyway it was a free replacement through insurance.

The guy came today from Safelite Autoglass (insurance recommended) and put in the new glass. Look how good of a job he did.

Anybody know a awesome auto glass place? They are redoing the job for free in Wednesday but I could have picked anybody to do this but I just went with who the insurance company recommended. So I need recommendations for next time.

A few pictures of the new windshield.

Re: Windshield Replacement

He broke it putting it in, I was not out there but I guess he was seating it and it cracked. He said it was because the glass had a blemish but I don't know if that is true or just an excuse.

Sorry about the date, my camera must be fucked. They were taken 10 minutes ago.

Re: Windshield Replacement

That sucks! I suppose let them do it again and see if it turns out well. After its done go test the car on the highway at high speeds and make sure its sealing out the wind noise as well as the stock seal did.

Re: Windshield Replacement

I'd suggest you have Auto Glass Specialists do it. I hear they do pretty good work. I used to have an S-10, and Safelite put a windshield in that. 2 weeks later it cracked and they didn't do anything about it cuz they said a stone chipped the edge.

I too have heard good things about AGS. Its beginning to sound like Safelite uses inferior quality glass (insurance recomended b/c its cheaper?).

Re: Windshield Replacement

Its PPG glass that they used. And its the same brand that the car comes with stock so I would assume its not too shitty. He said he is going to use a different brand next time. We'll see if he does. I think he just press to hard on one side before the other side was down so he flexed it on the edge. But I am not expert so I can only speculate.

Re: Windshield Replacement

Luther dealerships have their own glass installers and they will pretty much go anywhere. They did a great job for me. They even forgot to ask for money
