Hometheater Upgrade
Just thought I'd post up my new toys I bought.
New TV
New TV Stand
New DVD Player
Watched King Kong on it, and it looked pretty freakin sweet. I'm just running Component Video for now, but I'll get one of those HDMI cables for it one of these days! Kinda cool, just thought I'd share!

Re: Hometheater Upgrade
Haven't watched any porn on her yet. I tried hooking up the laptop to her but I didn't have an S-Video cable, nor did I have a monitor cable, but I will once I get home. I bought it about 2 days before I left for Florida, so I haven't been able to play with her too much yet. It's the 42" Sony WEGA LCD. I've kinda gotten into the whole home theator thing(mainly video), so this finally put my mind to ease a little bit since I was learning so much about it, yet rocking a GE 27" built in the early 90's. So now I'm satisfied. But now that I got that outta the way, I just gotta get me some patio furniture, and a running DSM!

Re: Hometheater Upgrade
Tight. I got a 46" HDTV last Thanksgiving and I still can't believe the difference HD makes. I sit and watch Discovery HD or INHD 1 and 2, it's just awesome. All the Jerry Bruckheimer crime fighter shows are awesome in HD as well. The chicks just don't look quite as good up close, you can see every little detail.
Check out the latest Star Wars flick and crank up the surround sound, now that's flipping awesome.

Re: Hometheater Upgrade
I've got a 50" Sony LCD rear projection. It looks a little different than your, ju-on. Mine is last year's model. I've done a lot of reasearch into home theater junk, so if you need help with anything let me know. Once you start watching HD on a big screen everything else looks like crap.
I've got two Media PCs set up to record HD programming. I'm a little too obsessed.

Curt

Re: Hometheater Upgrade
Looks good. Im in the final stages of finishing my basment/home theater. built in 57" HDTV in wall/ceiling suround sound, fire place and barI'll have to post up some pics of the finished product.
I agree once you HD theres no going back. I cant stand watching a 27" anymore its like looking through a port hole. CSI is the shit in HD. But it will make people ugly up close.
Heres a few pics. I'm still working on the cultured stone fire place so its a mess. the hole in the wall is where the TV will be slid in flush.

Re: Hometheater Upgrade
Looks pretty nice man... I should be saving for a house but I'm a fool that keeps buying crap I don't need. You have a surround sound setup?? I've been meaning to figure out something with mine for surround sound... my receiver supports it... but I'm too lazy.
This is my setup...

Re: Hometheater Upgrade
Deng, well it's nice to know I'm not the only one that's a home theater nerd. I do have surround also. Nothing special, just a sony receiver and speakers. I'd like to upgrade that, but I live in a townhouse and I already seem to cause enough problems with what I have, so I think I'm set for awile now with home theator.
Thanks for offering advice Curt. I have been researching this stuff for about 2 years now off and on, so I have a pretty good understanding of it all now. Do you run HDMI or DVI? I'm running just component right now and I think it's amazing. I'm anxious to see how much better it'll look when I upgrade to HDMI.

My TV has an HDMI input. I was messing with one of my computers a few weeks ago and hooked it up with an HDMI cable. I wasn't really that impressed with the quality. It wasn't really any better than component. I think the source of the content is more important then the cables that are used. I've been really happy having my computer hooked up via component cables to the TV.

Curt

Re: Hometheater Upgrade
Yeah, I'm with Curt. I didn't notice any difference between component and HDMI. The difference is so apparent, the cables don't matter that much.

Re: Hometheater Upgrade
I'd love to watch some of those discovery channels you were talking about Steve, but I don't have cable. Maybe someday if I ever get a roommate, and I can split the cost of the cable bill with them! But for now, just the old free stuff!!

Do you have an antenna setup to get the free, over the air digital/HD channels?
