A Little Rant
Welllllllll. I got my laser running. She runs GREAT!!! I periodically check under the car where the leaks were before just to make sure. Well, the leaks I fixed are fine, but there's still wet oil!!! There's droplets hanging from my oil pan, and its on my exhaust....none of it's on my belts though, which is a good thing . but damn....frustration...This is my first DSM though, and I guess I should be getting used to stuff like this, from what i hear . Well thanks for listening to my rant. Sorry Mods and Admins if it's in the wrong place.

Re: A Little Rant
Just put OilDry in your 'mod list' like every one else w/ a dsm:
1991 Eclipse GSX 5-sp
buschur 3" exhaust
hallman mbc
s-afc
slowboy race fmic kit
5-gallons of OilDry
4 2-ton jackstands
cup-o-extra bolts (got everything back together, not sure where they go!)
always changed w/ 8 quarts Mobil1, 5 in the motor and 3 extra for 'top ups'
kyb agx w/ eibach springs
jumper cables
etc...

Re: A Little Rant
Could it jsut be coming from the oil pan seal or the oil pan drain plug?

Re: A Little Rant
I personally did the oil pan seal, and it sealed just fine, so the the drain plug (changed oil for goodyear for 1/2 year, I know my shit)
but from what I remember when we put it all back together you didnt actually replace the oil pump, or the oil pump seal, not to mention that both main seals were not done....so the oil could be coming from anywhere, good luck.
I was thinking about building a plastic underengine pan..like the ones found in some Audi's...not sure how it would avoid getting melted from the exhaust, maybe it should be built out of metal....but i would rather ghetto up my car then leave huge oil spils everywhere I park.

Re: A Little Rant
Did you get new gaskets for the 2 bolts that hold the oil return to the pan? They look like little washers, but they are really gaskets that hold back oil.

Re: A Little Rant
Well Jason, you have had absolutely nothing but bad luck with your car and it took you a long time to post up that you are getting pissed. I too am new to owning a DSM but havent had the pleasure of experiencing the DSM difficulties, yet. Hang in there, before you know it everything will be somewhat stable and you can start enjoying the small intermittent(sp) problems that only happen at the most inconvenient of times.

Re: A Little Rant
Yeah i had him from the start. Although, since mine is the fwd i was leaving tire smoke behind me through 2nd gear..When i hit 3rd....clank clank vroooooooooooommmmmm, tried second again, vrrrrooooooommmmm...I ended up limping home in the only gears i had...4th and 5th....tore it apart this morning though. not too bad. definately need a new tranny...or the stuff to do an awd conversion :P
Yes, I did beat him. When my tranny blew up, i probably had him by a car or two (didnt really look though).
I'm a pretty tolerant person. I'm used to car trouble (drove 2 integras, 1 turbocharged 95 GS-R, and a N/A 91). But this is the fastest car i've ever owned (lol doesn't say much for my turbo acura :P). It's by far the funnest car i've ever driven too.
I'm getting close to working all the kinks out though! I'm definately hooked on DSM's though....All thanks to swifty! (not sure wether to to thank you or hit you for getting me hooked on DSM's) Well im out. Peace!

Re: A Little Rant
hehe..look at all my problems man..start making some power with the right mods, and you have more to look into. korey's fwd is pretty quick (for a fwd) and his is damn near reliable as they come! low mods, pretty basic setup. He does beat on it too, and it's not failed him yet. (yea korey, I remember you leaving kia every day..that distinctive dsm sound was rather familiar at WOT racing shane in the exploder to the light ;-) )
