evo boost control pill
I'm currently researching it now, so I can post back with my findings too.
I need size 0.025”.
I guess I'm wondering where everyone sources these on the cheap.

Re: evo boost control pill
Stock or aftermarket? They are just restrictor pills. What do you need to know? Restrictor pills are like using a cheap bleeder MBC that you can't adjust(without the actual bleed), the smaller you go the more boost and less stable the control gets(more boost spike).

Re: evo boost control pill
I found that I can use a welding tip, so I'm guessing that maybe I can use a nitrous jet too, hopefully i have one around.
The DSMlink guys say that 0.025”, appears to work well, but your post about size vs. effectiveness is extremely helpful.
Thanks.

Re: evo boost control pill
What are you trying to do?
I used to stock them for the Evo X, but nowdays you are better just getting a Grimmspeed, Perrin, etc BCS, especially if you are trying to run high boost.

Re: evo boost control pill
Setup boost control via DSMlink, it says that i need a 0.025" pill of some kind for it work effectively.
Plus right now i need to not run more than 28-30psi because I'm out of fuel.

I'd love to and yes they are only like $60 or something, but I no longer work full time, fuck I barely work at all now. So money is an issue, I can spend a couple of dollars on this since it will take more time than anything.
I also understand the 3-port would be the best way, but a lot of people are having no issues and I'm still on a baby turbo.

Re: evo boost control pill
Per DSMlink wiki:
"The factory EGR and fuel pressure solenoids are options, but do not seem to work properly much above 25psi. These solenoids either hang open or get locked closed (depending on configuration) under high boost conditions, making them unsuitable for this application. "

This. Just slap on a cheap, trusty MBC.

I emailed the link dudes and they can hook me up with the 3-port IR solenoid for $39, they are selling them now as a kit. Wife said to do it the right way one time like I want to.
we will try the MBC and hope it works, if not its go time on teh 3-port.

Re: evo boost control pill
If you are trying to use the stock boost solenoid, you could use it with an MBC. Set the MBC to something high and then tune above that with the boost solenoid. A restrictor pill is nothing but a really bad performing locked manual boost controller.
You could also use an MBC with the FPR or EGR solenoids and keep the amount of boost the solenoids actaully see under 25psi, but that would only work if your wategate spring is a decent amount under 25psi to give you some room to work with.

Re: evo boost control pill
PlanoEvo has a DB MBC for sale. He was using it with great results (I had one in my IX too), but forgot to tighten the lock nut and lost the knob, spring, and ball. I picked him up replacements while in MN, but by that point a local had already given him a Perrin MBC which he's just stuck with (because it's red and matches his engine bay powdercoating).
