Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

Do you have any charts or anything showing the flow of those at different pressures, amp draw? Also, those are physically smaller than 255's right? Do you have to run those goofy pre-filters on them that have like 2 legs on them, or is there a way to just use a straight regular one like what comes on the 255's?

Is run the goofy dual sock they have. Singles are too small and don't flow enough. And yes these are shorter then a 255.

Cool. Wonder how much power just one of those, with a BAP would support.

Anyhow, awesome results man. Congrats!

Good to see things work out swift.

I wonder what an boost/hp vs RPM graph of our setups at similar boost would look like?

600+ whp is a fun ride that is for sure.

I wouldn't know..yet I babied it home last night, parked it, then went out. I replaced that broken alt bracket today with the new one I had. Now, I'll take it out tomorrow or sunday, and finally get to feel what this "hype" is about

I am running one of the 310's and a BAP and with e85 and 1600s at 485hp DB WHP I am running 70% duty cycle and enough fuel with the stock fuel sock.

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

I guess it's time for an update.

Car has been pretty good to me. Some kid tried running me on the highway in a GS300, and it didn't end well for him. Same for this guy on a black gsxr600. Was fun.

Sat, cars and coffee. Left the house, somewhat tired, since I was awake at 4:10am. I did a short little pull on 13, which woke me up immediatly, as the car proceeded to kick out from under me. I got off it, kept it pointed straight, and babied it the rest of the way there. I remember specifically hearin an old guy there say "wow, this car is kinda ugly..needs paint," to which, his friend said, "yea, but look at the engine, turbo, and this dyno graph..holy shit!." Put a smile on my face . After, we drove to the MAP dyno event. Jeff, Matt, and his gf where following me there (group all sorta split up) and on the way, I really got on it in 2nd, through 3rd. I'd say this is the first time the car has officially scared me. using 2 hands to steer the damn thing, and still wrestling the wheel, to keep it in 1 lane is sorta difficult! Either way, I concluded that I was done for the day. Fast forward to the dyno day, and turns out I in promptly was used for "name dat powa". I had to pick a handful of people I DIDN'T know to guess what the shitbox would make. 4 guys, 1 chick (didn't wanna be sexist). Few guesses later, and it was pull time. Ended up knocking Seng off the top of the charts, by only 4 whp! Frankly, this area has too many high HP cars these days (mark, john, him, etc) so I got REALLY lucky that those others had misfortunes, and couldn't make it to the dyno session. I heard what the evo put down at DB the night before, and I was quite surprised..e98, 46 psi, billet hawtness, ya..was a good number. So, Something must have been up with his car for me to beat him. We tried turning my boost up, but it wouldn't go anywhere past 37-39 psi..I have 2 boost leaks. Either way, ended up with 729awhp..not too bad I guess!

I gotta take a moment and thank those who've helped me along the way. John, late nights welding..and the inspiration and help..thank you. Primo, coating, and a few other things here n there, plus the cage (I would NOT drive this car without a cage!) I thank you guys. Shane, for the awesome, consistent tunes! I recommend no one else then you guys for tuning! It's amazing! MAP, awesome prices on parts. And, everyone else who's kicked my ass, and pushed me to not give up. It feels good FINALLY to be able to smile, and see results of hard work. I thank you all for the help over the years. I pulled out my file of all the dyno charts I have, since the first time back on my birthday in 2006 on the old scm61. Crazy to see how far I've come in just 4 years! Thanks again!

Brings me to the current state. Assuming no one buys the car, and I get some cashflow in order (nothing is even getting touched until then!), I have a list of things that need fixing.

1: Clutch. It's holding just fine, but I feel that at 9500-9600 rpms, it's preventing me from catching good shifts. I get locked out from time to time. Exedy twin disc?

2: Injectors. They are maxed out, plain and simple. I'm thinking 2150's, or 2200's. Suggestions?

3: Twin 310's. These are also maxed out. I'm wondering how far a BAP would get me, with the above injectors?

4: FMIC. This core is just too small. I'm suprised it went as far as it did. 3.5" thick, it's heatsoaking. Start of a dyno pull was 74 deg, but ended at 148. Just too much. ETS 5" core, with 3" in/out will be on order to solve this.

5: HD wristpins. Even at this power level, I'm scared of the standard weisco/eagle setup. before I push it any farther, or really even rap on it as it sits, I feel the inevitable is going to happen. at $10/ea. I'd think it's good insurance.

6: move upper water neck/redo the upper rad hose. There NEEDS to be more clearance here! Which leads to...

7: INTAKE and FILTER!! I think it's self-explanatory.

8: Paint?

9: Zuba pant parachute?

ok, in all seriousness, not till I hit the track. BUT, looking at everyone else, I think it MIGHT be safe to start thinking about what setup would work best..

10: Turbo. I am QUITE pleased with this turbo. For rebuilding it myself, I'm even more surprised! IT out spools, and out powers all of my previous turbos, besides the 16g, and the scm61. ONLY thing I see here, is to a point (which is now) it makes around the same as it's larger brother the 4202. I'm looking into either that, or the billet wheel for the 4202. But, odds are, I will just leave it alone, and see what happens

11: E-98. With the above mods, I wanna see what this will do on 46 psi or so. Could make for a fun car

12: TIRES! Even now, this is becoming quite apparent..traction is an issue. Not sure what to get yet, so I guess research will need to be done on this topic.

13: Knock sensor. My knock tables are maxed out, currently. It's rocking a 2g knock sensor, which is more sensitive then 1g's are. At these power levels, engine harmonics, and such..it's too much. I wish to find a 1g 3kgt sensor, if not just a stock 1g one, and then re-do the knock tables for it.

14: Scattershield. Frankly, launching a car at 7200 rpms or more worries me enough to invest in some safety equipment. Better Safe then sorry!

List could go on, and I know, it's all a bit far-fetched right now, but it's a starting point for me to dream about. As for now, I'm enjoying my time with it, as it sits. For the first time in a long time, I'm happy with it.

EDIT- Video of the winning pull:

E98 is interesting. Do you know what MAP gets for it? I was poking around the `net and it sounds like it's in the $4.50/gal range.

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

^MAJOR thanks to Mark L. and a good 2 hour convo/swap session tonight for these! Helped lead me in a good direction over winter, as well as hooked me up with these to use, and a comp cable! Thanks Mark!

Winter will forsure include a new, bigger fmic, 2150's, and mark's "coldside" off his turbo, since he's doing the billet setup. So, I'll rebuild my turbo again, but swap out the comp wheel, cover and backing plate and convert it from a gt4294 to a gt4202. Other stuff to also be included. Hopefully, this weekend shall be good!
