Yes, taxes are going to have to go up somewhere in order to fund education, but that is fine with me, and obviously a lot of other people. The majority of teachers voted "YES" so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Re: today's voting

I watched the presidential speech today on MSNBC i laughed so hard when one of the reporters stood up to ask a question and asked "So is there a G in the word thumpin'?" (About the comment Bush made about the republican party taking a "thumpin" in the elections)
Its funny how he addressed the Iraq situation and what the polls were saying Even though the people have stated that they want the troops out he wants to continue to stay in iraq. What an idiot, but at least the democrats control the house and the senate so Bushs retarded decisions are gonna be checked.
Also about the comment in the other thread about not calling this iraq thing a war, bush said the words war in iraq over 6 times. Yeah we are at war.

Re: today's voting

So now 100 percent of the sales tax from used/new vehicles are going toward transportation. Anyone know where some of it used to go?

Also included are the tab renewal fees, licensing and registration, etc. 100% of the money used to go into the General Fund and transportation funding came out of there. The changes will not be immediate but slowly phased in (I believe fully by 2011?). This is a good thing people; it will draw more people to the Twin Cities Metropolitan area, raise property values in the outer-ring suburbs (and beyond), and make it easier for everyone to get around in general whether you drive or take public transportation.

I hope so. I didn't know much about it, but it looked good enough on the surface that i voted yes. Mostly for the dedicated public transit funding.

Re: today's voting

Thanks for clarifying. So eventually, to make up for this loss to the General Fund we'll get to pay higher taxes? Sweet.

On another note, after seeing all of these changes in office, I'm a little curious how/if this will affect the current Concealed Carry laws. Hopefully Pawlenty will keep things the way they are.
