Thats true, its very tough to accomplish all three, but a nice balance of the three is obtainable with a reasonable setup. Not everyone needs a 500 hp monster, some people are merely looking for a fairly affordable, quick, fun to drive street car that will start everyday with no issues. From what I can tell, this is what Aaron is looking for. If I'm wrong Aaron, please let me know.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
Yeah this is true and with that being said a mild turbo upgrade and a 2.0 is all he really needs. Something in the 250-300awhp range is plenty fast on the street, fun to drive, and if built properly, puts minimal stress on something very important...the wallet.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
If you want it to last forever, rebuild it with stock parts to stock. Forged pistons aren't necessarily made for motors that you want to run for 100k.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
Shane is right, stock pistons and stock rods will go a long ways with a mild turbo upgrade.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
I hear a lot of theories, but nobody knows for sure.
Bottom line is this; a properly built and properly maintained 2.4L will last as long. It will take more boost & rpm to get the 2.0L to match it. So there's your trade-off to the higher piston speeds.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
thx, Hughes hit the nail right on the head. I don't want a 500hp, just a real fun DD. I think a B16G (that i currently have) on a nice 2.0L should get the job done, if not a 50 trim will for sure, and this car should only see pump gas and 20psi and the most.
Thx all for the opinions/suggestions u have been really helpful.

Yup same here, I regret getting rid of my B16G, I should have stuck with that and maxed it out.

2G pistons with 1G 6-bolt rods? Not a bad setup at all.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
As long as you don't replace parts that break with more used and beaten up parts it is just fine for some autoX or roadcourse action. Suspension, brakes, and other key components not directed to make big power are the ones you will need to focus on.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
With the proper setup, a DSM can turn well.

Tell that to DG who has placed well in nationals and to the Archer Brothers who won many SCCA championships in them.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
I am not looking to RULE auto-x or nothing, i just like driving. And if its more difficult with a DSM then i can't wait for the challenge.
But yeah, stock rebuild with higher compression FTW!!!

I agree on the Archer Bros. I mean come on ... to make it into the booklet for the Talon that must be great. And win three Manufacturers Championship too. If you have not seen the Talon Booklet ... hit me up. I can zip it and send it out.
