Re: 2005 Tax Returns: What will you get?
I worked for the government for 5 years, and taxes paid my salary for those 5 years. So I have absolutely no problem with paying taxes, because it's going towards things that I feel are a good cause.

Re: 2005 Tax Returns: What will you get?
If you have a problem with taxes move to a different country and tell me how it goes. Roadways, public transportation projects, everything you can name comes from our tax money. Some things the govt does with our money I may not like but I think overall we have it damn good. Yesa I dont like them taking 30% of our pay, but thats the price you pay for everything that makes the US work well.

If you remember American history one of the main reasons we went to war with the English was "heavy" taxes. Glad you like taxes, I don't . This country was founded on Blood bought freedoms, and one of them is the right to keep the fruits of your labor.
Remember part of your freedom and your "power" is your money!
What makes the US "work well" is people having MORE of there money to spend in on economy NOT going down the toilet to taxes.
Right now the average american pays over 50% of all there wages, one way or the the other to taxes. Yep a FULL HALF of your life is working for someone else who gives you little or nothing back in return.
You know how many goverment programs I'm on? ZERO. You know when the last time that I felt I was getting good bang from my tax dollar? Never!
We aren't europe or some other socialist nation quite yet, this isn't "One world" yet either, It's the United States, and that should always stand for low Taxes and HIGH Freedom!
So if you like High taxes, why don't YOU move to another high tax country where you will fit in, I was here first!
Just answer me this, what percent tax would you finally get up and fight about?
If we are at 50% now and your "Happy" with that, How does 75% sound, or maybe 90% would make you "more happy"?
Tell you what if you "like" paying taxes for overboated & wasteful, bottomless programs, why don't you pay my taxes as well?
Would you even get out of bed anymore if you only got to keep 1/10 of your own money or would you go to war?
That's what this countrys Patriots did they went to war for FAR less Tax increases than we live with every year, hell the boston Tea party was over a 2% INCREASE IN THE TEA TAX!
We are like frogs getting slowly getting cooked, you don't notice the change cause it's been so gradule over the years, but each and everyone of us are going to KEEP getting jacked more and more each year because of our total, I'm ok apathy. Maybe after you worked 30+ years, and payed in countless thousand for little or nothing like I have you just might change your mind about taxes?
You want the facts, do some research, help stop waste, hold these people's feet to the fire and let them EARN our money, not just let them rip us off???

IMHO.....

Let see, My uncle Terry who was a 19 an old medic stepped on a mine in Nam and was KIA, my great uncle got a purple heart.
I was in the Army for 4 years, but never had the honor to see any action myself.
The point is that ALL PATRIOTS GAVE SOME & SOME GAVE ALL FOR OUR PRECIOUS FREEDOMS!
You already got paid, and probably paid well for doing not much while working for the goverment. We owe you nothing now!
We owe the ulimate respect to the MILLIONS of Americans who have fought and died for our Freedoms thoughout the history of this country.
I do Love this country that's exactly why I stand up for injustice, and over taxing the common man for wasteful and pork barrel projects is just that, injustice!
It's apathetic, uninformed, live for today types like you that refuse to look at the facts that are causing more of our freedoms to disolve year after year.
Afterall, don't you get it? "Love it or Leave it" ? America isn't a place, it's an idea!
It's called the constution, where it declares God, not the state gives us our "inaliable rights".
Following this idea that Freedom and Liberty is our cornerstone for the better part of 200 years resulted in America being the most blessed and wealthest country on the face of the earth.
Think you need to put the bottle down for a second go take a quick stroll out to Ft. Snelling, take a look around for a minute or 2, maybe you'll realize why you have any Freedom at all and STFU yourself!

Dude, that's just plain wrong. And you'd think with your Army service, and your other family members military experiance that you listed that you'd think twice about making a comment like that.
I'm with Brandon on this one. And I don't pay 50% of my shit in taxes. I'll post up all my crap when I get my last W2. Another basic right with the money one earns, after taxes are withheld, is the ability to spend it freely where they please. Don't want to pay taxes, don't shop somewhere you are charged taxes. Buy a better car to save on gas and avoid some taxes there, clothing isn't taxed in the state of MN which is why people from IA and WI and ND shop here, it's choices people make that determine their future.
Personally I think some of this should be kept to one's self, I'm sick of the bitching.

Re: 2005 Tax Returns: What will you get?
If Brandon was in the Armed Forces for 5 years, I must sincerly apologize, we owe him as well.
I was under the understanding he was just working for the state or?
It's not just what's on your W2 man! Look at gas tax, sales tax, property tax, fees, tabs, taxes on business that passes on to you. It adds up FAST!
Again knowledge is power, it's all right here in black and white!

Howie out!

Re: 2005 Tax Returns: What will you get?
I see what your saying, but you gotta remember it's our choice on how much :
Gas - We now have the choice to by hybrids to cut this cost down
Sales Tax - not everything in every state is taxed
Property Tax - Personal preferance on the value of the home someone wants
Tabs - Older cars carry lower fees
I understand your points, just saying we have more options that what's being said. It's like we are trapped. And that's not the case at all.

Re: 2005 Tax Returns: What will you get?
Your right, we do have some choices in purchases, and I work it all the time by shopping on line whenever I can. And now they want to start taxing online sales as well! Cause "They are losing too much revenue", that means WE THE PEOPLE are KEEPING MORE of OUR OWN money, I should say soon it will be we used to save Tax money by shopping online.
Did you know that Mn sales tax only started in 1962 and was only suppose to only be a temporary tax? 44 years later the "temporary tax" is still enforced to the tune of Billions!
Never forget another choice we have is who we put in office!
If it wasn't for Watch dogs like :
http://www.taxpayersleague.org/issues/tax_center.php
The situation would be much worse!
All I'm trying to say is we all need to take a little time and energy to keep them honest! Otherwise my kids Taxes will be even higher than ours, and he'll only be able to afford the cheap leaky Diapers for his old man....:-P
Lower Taxes= More broken down DSM's in every driveway!.....:->

Re: 2005 Tax Returns: What will you get?
Sorry I was drunk last night. Anywho, I was in the Marines for 5 years. Just got out in July. I'd say I did A LOT and got paid HARDLY ANYTHING. Anyways, I am done argueing the point. I didn't realise you were in the Army neither. All I'm saying is that, we live in what I'd consider the best country on earth, and if it means I have to pay some taxes to live in this place, then so be it. Sure I know some officials take advantage of tax money and do wrong stuff with it, but that's the same way with everything. You always have a few bad apples. But I like to think that a good portion of out government is spending a good portion of our money wisely.

Just wanted to add, I was drinking out of little wax cup things, no bottles! They can't afford to use bottles when giving away free beer! And I paid no taxes on the free beer!! Life was good

Re: 2005 Tax Returns: What will you get?
Did my taxes last weekend, I'm getting about $350 total back. My financial planning worked pretty well, I was hoping for closer to zero but this'll do.
